Gotcha, I'll keep an eye on it, this motor doesn't leak a bit anywhere so I'm certainly not wanting to cause an issue, thanks for the heads up and I did check the manual and it does call for an adhesive. Time will tellIt probably worked because of the existing sealant in the hole. I usually use teflon thread tape when I assemble tapered pipe threads. Be very careful to avoid having any hang off the end of the fitting and there won't be any risk of it finding its way into the oil system.
