Is there a way to adjust idle on the 1FZ-FE? My 93 idles low. About 500-550 rpm.
Clean your throttle body aka. Throttle body service and then check your Throttle Position Sensor to make sure the IDL circuit is working. Then once you have confirmed those things set your timing and idle speed.

As far as I know 1FZ-fe idle speed isn't adjustable.

@LS1FJ40 make sure your ECU is seeing constant battery voltage on the terminal marked +B on the EWD. If it loses its memory every start it has to relearn the idle adaptation values each time and this will cause it to stay low.

If you have trouble finding that circuit send me a PM and I'll dig out the wiring diagrams to help.

I got the bumpers powder coated, remounted and added the lights...

I love my awning but because my CampTeq uses all the gutter when it rains the water just runs down the side of the truck, not good. In the past I used pipe rubber insulation for the gap and it worked well. Fast forward to running hi-speed on the freeway and we no longer have any insulation. So I installed new stuff and used SS safety wire and ran on top to keep the stuff in place even at hi-speed.:)

IIRC there was a washer mod for the earlier 80 series non OBDII possibly only for start up:meh:

I think I figured it out. Everything checked out good. Got constant voltage at +B.

I had a small vacuum leak. I think this has resolved it. One of the rubber caps from my EGR Delete was cracked. So I started checking all of my vacuum lines. One was cracked. Replaced them al and took it for a spin. All good now!

Thanks.

Tearing in to the spare 1FZ-FE...

I'm having second thoughts about using this motor. She looks rough. Anyone have thoughts?

The other option is to do what's needed to fix my lifter tick/knock on my 93.

Yeah looks pretty used and not real well maintained. How was the compression test?

I didn't do a compression test. This is my first time and I just jumped in to it. I got the motor for free and was told it had 153k miles on it. I doubt that is the case. I've really only pulled the valve cover and throttle body off. What do I need to do to do a compression test?

Tooled around with @Cruiser Bauers in Anza Borrego and Ocotillo Wells. Good times and better company.

I am. Just wondering if it is worth rebuilding. And how far I should go.

IMO you won't know until you have the crank mic'd, check out the camshaft journals, and see what the cylinder walls look like.

It could be relatively low in hard-parts wear but had s***ty fuel which left a lot of deposits.
