No doubt those Coopers had some failures. I have the STT Pro, though. I am seeing no signs of issues like the earlier model tire. Have you any discussions that reference failures on the STT Pro specifically?

In all fairness, each of those threads you linked is from quite some time ago. For the most part, everything I've seen recently about Cooper has been nothing but praise.

People have issues with every single tire out there, including the ones that are well regarded (Duratrac sidewall issues, kO2 premature cracking/dry rotting, etc.) Personally I wouldn't write off an entire brand just because of a few threads from 5-10 years ago.

From what I've read, people do seem to be happier with the stt pro over previous tyres. A lot of people seem to still be wary of coopers because of the previous tyres having so many issues. I guess time will tell. Couple more threads on stt pro, with both positive and negative opinions

found out either i transposed two wires when i swapped in the elocked axles from the nuclearmarshmallow, or the 96 harness is just off enough. with everything hooked up, the light is on solid when the locker dial is off and flashing when the rear axle is locked. confirmed axle unlocked when solid, locked when flashing.
unhook the ground at the back of the frame, and the light works correctly, but axle doesn't unlock.

Picked up a DD. I averaged 24 MPG on a 370 mile journey home. Got a lot of stuff to do on her but she's pretty solid. Not a bit of rust, anywhere.

i wish you luck...i also have a first gen runner as a sacrificial anode to the mag chloride gods. it's the devil. your's does look like it might be a lot nicer than puff the evil wagon though.

This post chills me to the bone! The body and frame have zero rust. Zero. The 22re was rebuilt about 60,000 mi ago. Already ordered parts for a PM and plan on freshing up the suspension. New carpet and some seats if I can find some good used ones. If I can get it painted at a decent price, she's gonna get new original color paint too.

If she turns evil too she'll at least look good doing it!

I installed a Spal Auxiliary fan where the factory one would Go, so as to have cold AC this summer in traffic (watch Boise not break 80º this summer). Below are the links!

My switch setup - SPAL Auxiliary Fan Install Except I used a relay, as the spal fan draws a few more amps.
The fan - A1 Electric Online Store: Spal 30102025 12" High Performance Fan (Push)
I installed EBC Green Stuff brake pads front and rear, bled the system.
Replaced the belts removed that dadgum idler pulley, even though it was a year old it's making a ton of noise.
Took her to an alignment shop and had the tie rod ends replaced.
Feeling pretty good!

We have lots of problems with old steering rear shaft. Thay often get broken.
Slots became turned over.
Such as on the pic below.

I changed shaft and arm to new OEM ones from Land Cruiser 105 made after 2005 year. It has shaft 4mm stronger (thicker). Also rebuild all seals.

started the fun process of removing the factory Y-pipe to put in the Magnaflow with a single cat. Will have to make a short pipe to get back to the still factory muffler from prior cobble-fixes. 3 hours in and I am ready to put parts back in after having to clean the threads at the manifold for a while.

No modifications needed. Take off old and put on new. One note only, 105 shaft work with its own arm. So to change shaft you should change arm either.

I have some wiring to do on my own truck and needed to take some connectors apart. Spare few mins on the mill and got some new handles to replace the cheapy one I was using. My new Prison Shank Terminal Pin Removal Tool

Oh and...
My Sears Platinum aux 34M has a failed cell. When charging it got really hot and you could smell sulpher coming out of it. That was a week ago. Yesterday the main wouldn't start. So out it on charger over night. Would not charge past 11.2v

So 8 years later both of my Sears Platinums have s*** the bed. I didn't have a lot of options around me so just went to Costco and bought a 24F and 34 so that I didn't have to reroute cables. I haven't installed yet but I'll do it in the morning.

Pretty sure there was no warranty left

Well, I never thought I'd do this:

Jumped on the "drive a cheapo lame a$$ car to not waste money on gas and wear and tear on my 80s".

1999 Corolla 75,312 miles, runs, AC blows cold, windows don't work (not sure why yet but will figure it out). $500.

It will be my DD while I swap motors on the 93. Then I will sell it to someone at work that needs a car and can't get financing or scrape together enough money to get a decent used car. (Plenty of those in retail who are just getting by and could use a break). The thing drives like new. Bought it from a girl that got it 3 years ago from her grandma that bought it new.

Man card officially revoked.

Dont feel too bad. I also joined the DD club for the same reasons. Paid $2500 for an IS300. Fun to drive. My 80 will be getting a heart transplant. Started tearing into my coilpacked 1FZ-FE from AU. Not bad only 1 hour to remove the head. Working on an engine stand makes this all a breeze. Plan on rebuilding the engine. Not sure how bad the "while your in there" sickness will be, but trying to keep it contained. Been traveling just got back from Cartagena Colombia on a magazine photoshoot for one our Land Cruiser Heaven FJ43 restorations.

How much for one engraved with that phrase in the handle? I can't tell you how many random tools I come across in my hovel that I'm sure had a specific use for a specific car I once owned. Engraving will make it easier for my heirs to put on eBay in 2037.
