Needed to see terrain details to back up in a little sketchy spot on my last solo trip. Getting out was not a safe option. This was the third time for this issue so keeping my tradition, its time to address.

Back up cam install time -
I have had a set up for a while now but did not have a good spot to mount a monitor.:(
Along comes the WI-Fi transmitter to adapt to the camera and display on my iPad (F-Ya!) that I have mounted for navigation. The install was super easy and I now have a huge back up screen. Camera options are nice but not sure what I will use beside backing up.
Some of the camera options -
Still pictures at the touch
Video at the touch
Zoom in n out

I wanted camera on demand so I did not wire it to back up lights. The LUX is .05 and provides good viewing in total darkness but with my 18W LED back up lights its like daylight. Viewing the iPad when backing up at night is just as clear as night time the LED light. The Green, Yellow, and Red grid lines on the camera display are very accurate at 4', 2', and 1' measured from the camera. The water proof camera is mounted to and under the license plate light out of harms way. The video in real life is very clear much nicer than the pictures. In a perfect world I could use a little wider picture to pick up the corners of the rear bumper. Because the camera is WiFi the app can be installed on any or multiply phones and tables android or OS for viewing.

This is part 1 in a 2 part install. Next I will be mounting another camera up front with the ability to switch front to rear switched at the console. As a bonus I want to figure out how to switch front to back viewing from inside my CampTeq using my phone for boogyman viewing at night.

So what wifi cam/transm did you use? Looks pretty neato.

@LandCruiserPhil @wsudu

Took the wheels off, pressure washed them, quick degrease then a rinse and dry. After that it's just tape and spray paint. The "polished aluminum" is Krylon and the darker areas are Duplicolor. The tiring part is taping everything off for 2-3 minutes of spray painting :bang:

I sprayed my bumpers and center caps with the Duplicolor a while back. It's held up really nice so far. The Krylon will take some time before I know how it will hold up. The Duplicolor also does a nice job of filling in pitting and scratches. Doesn't make them whole again, but does a nice job.

Took about 5-6 hours from start to finish, 4 hours of that was taping.

I made up a couple of these to hold my hood open! I do have rocks in my head, but it still hurts! 1/2" pvc, cut slit entire length with grinder, paint orange so I don't forget they are on there, plus put a piece of Velcro to stow under the hood.... and BAM! Hillbilly hood stays!

Then I mounted the Gentex 121 mirror I pulled at Pi n Pull for $7!

Then took another poser shot with the new stablemate. A bone stock original 78. Going to be splitting time with the 40 section, most excited. View attachment 1400585 View attachment 1400587

Just hauled her home yesterday, purchased from Mud member @olive .
Gonna take great care of her buddy, thank you for the help, glad to keep her in the Mud community
Sweet! The year I graduated from high school. I remember seeing those on car lots and in al the 4X4 magazines. Bot a new Toyota pickup when I graduated high school - 78 is great! I coulda had a rig just like that. Enjoy driving the legend!

Replaced the parking brake shoes in my lx. Definitely an improvement over my non-existent parking brake, but she still needs adjustment/more parts.

The shoes I took off had about 2mm of meat left so they should have been within spec..but I was already in there so why not.
However it does look like I'm going to need new rotors for the rear. There's a significant show wear groove in the drum as if some one was riding with the brake on...(it was a woman's truck previously..just sayin) Which is funny since the actual pad braking surface is nice n smooth, wearing nicely.
