Drove to Colorado, put it in 4 Low...didn't need to...

saw some 100 Series and 200 Series rollin' around--thinking about why there's so much room in the sleeves of their North Face jackets and yet...tight around the waist...

This might be the new "Zona Slam".

You might want to add "pleated khakis" to the repertoire as well...

For the layering of Old Navy fleece

Finished welding up my sliders. Now off to powder coating.

I took a little different approach to mounting than all the other sliders I've seen for the 80's.
I may start a different thread for these and see what you all think.

Looking good. You may need to gusset or something on the leading/rear ends. A heavy 80 landing on a rock on those less supported ends will cause some deflection. What is the thickness and OD of your tubing?

Ya, eventually i plan on doing that. For now, honestly they probably won't see much heavy use. Integrated cat skid plate is part of the long term, but my exhaust may change before that happens. Tubing is .120 wall 1-3/4". I'll put more details in the thread when i start it.

I agree with @bajaphile about adding some kind of support to the front and rear of your sliders. Even a moderate hit on either end will push those into the rocker panels and cause the damage you're trying to avoid by having sliders in the first place. I suggest getting your hilift jack out and lift the truck using the jack under each end of the sliders. You'll be able to see how much they flex in a controlled manner without causing damage. I think you'll be surprised how much they'll flex.

If you are already planning to "redo" your sliders, don't powdercoat them. Powdercoating is harder to grind off when you get around to welding them and harder to match once the mods are done...

Finished off the brakes, rebuilt rears with staino pistons and braided lines, just like the front :) Swapped all bleed screws for speed bleeders, best money spent, just crack em and pump that pedal til she gets all the bubbles out :beer:also swapped AC belt and idler cause she was a bit stretched and belt grip wouldn't fix the squealing

Engine, transmission, transfer case back into the truck. Now waiting on the injectors so I can put the top half back together again. After that, I will re-install all the electrical/wire loom with appropriate insulation from the engine bay heat. I am officially overwhelmed with the rebuild, but the FSM and MUD have come through for me yet again. One small step at a time. Oh, and I figured out how to use a torque wrench.
Ah memories. The satisfaction of putting your own land cruiser back together is only trumped by driving a land cruiser you put together.

That was just this Saturday...probably 3ft or more by now....crazy amount of snow ;)
I keep getting shut out trying to get up there! Friggin 10 feet a week up there!

:crybaby:
