Trying to decide on a pair of 12 Ton jack stands.
The price is the same on both the Harbor Freight and Torin Big Red.
They are both made in China.
HF pair is slightly higher at it's minimum and maximum height. 19.5" - 30.1/8" vs Torin at 18.5" - 28"
I'm thinking the HF would higher and safer at it's minimum setting as I probably won't have to raise at all.
Which ones should I get? @ToyotaDon @JaketheSSnake
After using my Big Red 2 Ton jack stands raising the front end of my 80, like an idiot, I tend to trust the Big Red brand. Nothing happened. Still intact. Or maybe they did not really exceed their specs as only one wheel was off the ground, so it's possible no more than 2000 lbs were resting on the stand.
Same here
My first welding project. The rest will have to wait after Colorado. The regulator on the welder did not cooperate. What a great product from @4x4labs

Do you need the higher max height? Not having to raise the vehicle so high before the stand will fit underneath appeals to me. Sometimes the bigger ones are not worth the extra hassle. FWIW, I like the Torin ones that I have.

12 ton jack stands are the way to go IMO. I don't even use my 6 tons anymore. 12 tons are the only way I can get full droop on the suspension without killing myself. I wish I had taller stands because working on the rear suspension can be scary as the frame is even higher off the ground out back.

With tires mounted, my 60" high-lift is barely tall enough to release tension on the coilovers so I can adjust them

@jtwopark and @Qball came over. John was having overheating problems the entire trip to Monache. 222* and holding. John said it was a brand new blue hub from Toyota less than 3 months old.
I knew it was the clutch. I had a defective unit out of the box which is likely what his was. We cracked it open to find basically no fluid inside. Like...not even enough to soak through the paper towel.
Dumped in 60mL of 30kCST and it roars like a lion!
