It has ALWAYS been the rule, we have just been easy on it lately. I have been the moderator of this section since 2005, so think I would know

A couple of folks were uncomfortable and THEN others started with personal attacks. That was enough for us to tighten up

It does not require trimming the outer cutout but you must trim the recessed inner plastic a bit. Hope that makes sense.

Actually, I am having a great Sunday and I definitely don't feel unloved :D

Look guys, I know you don't agree. You don't have to agree, this is not a publicly owned site. We are typically pretty hands off, but personal attacks crossed the line and there were reports of this thread in the moderators queue from more than one person.

The moderators are volunteers who do this to give back. We donate a lot of time to the site to create the FAQs and provide technical advise where we can.

I am not looking for thanks or appreciation, just a little slack if what we do doesn't match what you think we should do. There are 10,000+ users on this site. We could let the rules be decided by the masses OR by the guy who owns the site. woody has always since 2003 had the rule that Chat should be moved from tech to the chat forum, that is its purpose. He even created the OT Chat section if people really wanted to go a step farther. It also has been the ground rule that tech is family safe. If you don't think this has been effectively communicated, then take this as your communication.

Previous posts in this thread have been reported and we choose to do nothing. This time involved multiple people reporting and stating they were uncomfortable and personal attacks between several members.

Be unhappy, it is your right. Criticize the volunteer staff who are responsible for keeping this going, you can do that too. Just remember you are a guest in woody's house

This begs the question then, is this topic fit for the tech section?
It has nothing to do with tech. I f I take my 80 out for a ride I can post here and truly be on topic. If I gas it up and report it here, I would still be on topic. If I take a picture while driving my 80, I would not be off topic. If I have a beer with my 80... well you get my idea. Right?

What am I not getting here?

you can access this sight without paying. you just have to deal with less benefits and a lot of ads

Not sure it is worth pushing it, guys. Yes the vast majority LOVES @Aloha Jen pics, but to get to the point we are fighting amongst each other, not worth it. The better alternative is if we stop fighting with Romer if we just ask if you can have an "80's chat thread" that would be obvious chat here in the 80's section basically it would be everything in this thread not tech. People that didn't want to read it wouldn't have to click it, there would be no expectation of it being tech and you wouldn't have to venture into chat. ;)

So what do you think Romer?

I would venture to guess that there are 471+ pages of "I drove my 80 to such and such..." or "I picked up stuff from Lowe's...".
