I have been known to baffle. But if that photo baffled you, then the sunset photo shoot that directly followed the door enclosure photo/test (in order to properly test stock 80 series key fob working distances), will surely baffle you. The test results were inconclusive....but the sunset was amazing!

What sunset!?!?

Now on to a tech topic...
I moved my fire extinguisher to the Hanna cargo rack, removed my unused 3rd row seatbelts & installed a Matrix inverter in the cubby hole. I used the OEM switch & outlet in a Carling switch mount.

She is making a joke that she took photos sitting with the 80 rear door open and just wanted to share with mud ;). Lol
Even my jokes are too tech!

And yes...Harrop/Eaton E-Locker with matching OE magic dial in full effect!!! Love It!! Couldn't have done it without @NLXTACY and @Qball :steer:

For once in my life, I took the path of least resistance and used the switch that comes with the Harrop for my rear locker. Turned out nice IMO. Spot next to it is reserved for the eventual front locker. :D

Actually it looks like the rust started in the wheel well, not from the interior. The mount looked fine from the outside, all the rust was hiding behind the undercoating.

It's going to be challenging to repair because I want the seatbelt mount to be solid. I'm just glad I found it this way and not in a accident.

I disagree.

While the rust "erupted" in the wheel well, the pattern pretty clearly shows an "inside out" rust pattern.

I'd almost bet something was pressed against the metal on the inside of the body panel, like a rag or piece of carpet, (or mud?) that held the moisture there long enough to get it started. Or maybe there was something perforated there.

In fact, I'm looking at something that looks like missing paint in the picture; almost as if the protective coating didn't take completely on the metal.

I'm far from a rust expert so I will defer to your judgment. I just can't wait to get it fixed, the old license plate I have wedged in there to keep debris from being launched into the cabin isn't going to cut it for long.

Resealed the windshield to hopefully stop my floor mats from being marshland. Repainted the sliders and rockers, replaced the door speakers. It was a productive weekend.

Picked up a garage sale commuter bike for mrs surfpig.

Was windy when driving today and noticed my hood was shaking. Pulled over to make sure it was latched and it was. Why is it doing this? It is "lifting" up a solid 1/2" or so.

If indeed it is as Joey said, and the adhesive has let loose, you can get adhesive from any place nearby that sells Autobody supplies. Or look around online and find it. I believe this stuff is called Panel Bonding Adhesive.

If the hood itself is shaking at the latch, then you need to adjust the hood latch/lock attached to the body, and the rubber stoppers/bumpers that control the final position. I believe there is a section for how to do this in the Body Repair FSM for.

Does that battery switch fit the opening without cutting? I've been trying to find dimensions on it, but every time I search blue sea switch, it brings up the big dial. I'd like to run it vertically where your locker switch is with a winch switch above it and Im afraid it will either touch, or look out of place.

I wouldn't say "always"...

Go for it.

Whatever.
