Added 4 degree shims. In the last year I've rebuilt the knuckles with all new fasteners plus the wheel bearings, replaced the old steering damper, dialed in the toe setting, and replaced the steering column with a lower mileage unit. Steering was better and tighter but still felt like a minor vagueness remained. I'll drive tomorrow and will know if the shims have made much of an improvement.

Put new bushings in your leaf spring ends and the front shackle hanger. They move A LOT more than you’d think. New bushings cleaned up a lot of my slop when I replaced everything else

This is so awesome. I always wondered if there was a way to reinforce the inside of one of these with some thick C channel and mount a winch to it. Oem looking bumper but the strength of an aftermarket steel one.

Here ya go...

Back when we used to sleep in ours I built a very simple wooden sleeping platform that fit 2x5 foot plastic bins from target under them. The front part was removable so you can fold your seat up. Basically the thickest plywood I could find and 2x6s for support and I stapled the super cheap bulk carpeting you get from home depot off of the rolls on the wall on top.

Then for a sleeping pad I used an exped megamat duo on top of it. My wife made the curtains and we stuck them on the windows with Velcro. The LEDs are AA battery powered fairy lights from Amazon.

The only downside to this setup was I had to put our fridge in the front seat when we were going to bed. Other than that it worked out super well.

Once we switched over to the tent, I kept the wooden storage in the cargo area. It was really nice for holding tools and stuff under the extra sets of rear tires for track days with my drift car or supplies and stuff for camping trips back there

Debating between this type of home made magic and going all in on an Air Down Gear Up system. How did you secure your system to the rig?

Dude. This is so freaking awesome. Looks like it should have came from the factory that way. The oem toyota winch bumpers are ugly as sin

Debating between this type of home made magic and going all in on an Air Down Gear Up system. How did you secure your system to the rig?
The thick plywood and 2x6s were pretty heavy, but To secure it i made the top plywood section pretty much the EXACT dimensions of the rear cargo area. When you fold your rear seat back and lock it into place it leans back a few degrees, so i used this to basically lock the sleeping platform into place against the tailgate. Every time you close the tailgate it puts a slight resistance onto the platform and since the rear seat is angled back it puts a little bit of downward pressure onto it too. Never had an issue with it shifting or moving at all.

Another thing you could do is screw some screw in D rings to the legs and use a turnbuckle to secure it to the 2 cargo loops in the back of the truck but i never needed to do that

I have fine tuned the JDM Pure Yellow LED diodes in my 10/88 FJ62LG-PNEK with a 60 front end conversion …

I installed originally 8000k Cool white ones first and was …..like yeaaaa 🤔

So so so , too typical rest of FJ60 corner lamps society for me …

Instead of the standard 67 / 87 twist lock miniature single filaments the owners manual Calls for ….?

Using LED Diodes that do not generate any BTU heat to really speak
Of ?

I pondered the how can I install a real Full size 1156 size spec Diode LED ?

Well a little bit of this and a bit of that with a dremmel too to the main bulb sockets housings , nothing to compromise them water tite to be clear here ..

Presto a 1156 is now my norm and bench mark standard

The simply LUMENS difference is significantly substantial in every single way too !

Note : these images have NOT been photo shopped in any way ..

I make this point because typically I do adjust for simple sharpness and brightness 🔆 tone to make good look better ..

But , I feel strongly that the original color tone and sharpness and clarity be shown exactly as original as it should because then others can make a better well informed decision on the whole JDM LED Pure Yellow upgrade and non-USA far away look , feel , fit , form , and function. …

Note : the color tone Lumens of the japan Spec. HJ61 front amber-oarnge side markers

My final thoughts 💭 are simply 1 word. “ SICK “ 😎

I plan on installing the same Rear 2 color / clear and. Red only , tail lamps lenses @TRAIL TAILOR utilized , so I can have balance and pure JDM yellow in the stern as my turn / flasher lens cavity too …

What kind of marker lights are these? look like they stand off the body more and are likely more visible front and rear. Any guidance appreciated.

hi ,

there were 2 uniquely different HJ60 BJ60 HJ61 BJ61 non-usa front amber side marker lights used in the EU up north and in japan spec. market regions

- 1st gen. ( aka razer clam lenses )

- 2nd gen. ( aka bubble lenses )

- note : my (
aka's ) i use to keep all 3 styles including the flat & dismal usa-spec. ones all categorized in my world in my head daily , as all amber side front 60 series anything lenses / lamps are also side specific too , as in RH and LH ,

where ALL rear red side marker lights all 60 series globally are simply Siamese in nature , 1 part # fits both the RH and LH sides ,,,,,

make sense so far ............? :wrench: :wrench: :wrench:

if not tell me , i can try to explain differently , its a
water weep holes TECH. topic thing for all front amber ones .....fyi

explore my tech-use intended store links below , my more then the average bear use of details that matter listing photos , should bring you up to speed very well , :):wrench::wrench::wrench:

alot faster then i could ever explain here anyway ,

i personally adored the 2nd gen, bubble lenses from the first time i laid eyes on them a few years ago here on MUD ...

i never knew about , the 1st gen razor clam shell ones , until deep into my search for what in now GHOST ....

She is the last tech. photo below ..... one sassy-lassie she is becoming as i continue to bring things back to a stock OEM Toyota way in one form or another .......

Put my HJ61 Wheel on and some ARB side steps. Feeling very Aussie at the moment.

I recently added dual air lockers, 5 gallon air tank and a huge Extreme Aire pump. I can now air up as soon as I hit pavement. I could even run air tools if I needed too. Also added 115 Amp alternator. I’ve finally got 13 volts running through the system with every accessory and set of lights turned on. Wooo whooooo!

What made you choose that pump and tank setup? Looks nice

Drove to Tennessee and back for Gsmtr 2024.

Didn’t wheel very much but did manage to dent my 1/4 even more… gas door and filler neck still work which is all I care about. I didn’t take any trail pictures

I worked with Georg, (@orangefj45) at Valley Hybrids on the set up. I had a single ARB when it was just rear locked. Extreme Aire is a California based company and Georg thought their pump would be best for my set up. We had to consider the real-estate I had to work with in the engine bay and this was a better fit overall. The pump works great and fills the 5 gal in about 2 minutes.

I like the tank location, seems to fit really nice!

Chipping away at this thing. I got my exhaust made from the manifolds to the muffler. I still need to make the tailpipe but it's quiet and doesn't stink. There are a couple of pinholes here and there I need to take care of but it's good enough to idle and not destroy my hearing.

I got my 62/80 airbox in and the intake made for that, fould kl15 on the driver's side to trigger the ECU and TAC. I also got the coolant temp and oil pressure wires run.

I'm hoping to get the PWM fan controller wired this weekend too. Then it's test drive time!
