Painted the rear letters on my replacement set mudflaps for my 62. Finished refurbing these last Fall but never got around to the lettering till now. Will let it dry awhile then swaps out. Old set has a few brackets that are no longer attached wanted nicer ones. Not perfect but will be good enough from a distance. Just hope the paint holds.

Tightened the 4WD sensor in the gearbox (was leaking gearbox oil).

The EGT will require a longer processes as I want to place it before the turbo, so need to take it apart and drill + replace the gaskets.

A good day and to recap:

2021 Tundra 5.7 I-Force, 6 speed and tcase.

Good thing there was a piggie in the shop to get some grease to shoehorn that 5.7 in the 60.

Fit up was awesome; no mods to steering, brake booster cleared, plenty of room for exhaust, custom motor/frame mounts, donor radiator is a perfect fit and will extend the shroud for optimal air flow and protection.

CUSTOM FLIPPED FRONT 80 AXLE IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN FOLLOWING ALONG TO ACCOMMODATE THE TUNDRA DRIVETRAIN.

This is a 100% Toyota build no aftermarket conversion pieces here.

Now to pull it all apart and down to the frame.

Then the rebuild will start.

No. Way. 🤯🤯🤯

Will you try an 80 next please? :o

Another FJ62 H55f conversion last week.. we did this one in two days of shop time. It helps to have all the parts I developed to make it seamless.
This one has my first prototype set of reproduction clutch/brake pedal and bracket so no more need to hunt down used rusty pedals and bucket for hundreds of dollars.

Steering column in my '86 FJ60 has just over 500k miles on it and something other than u-joints is worn. There's been some slop in the column that is felt and heard when on rough roads. It's past annoying. Today I pulled it out and replaced with tight column from a '88 FJ62. Was almost straightforward but there was a stud that had to cut down to swap over the ignition components. Probably some theft deterrent and I've just committed an illegality in tampering with it  . I could have simply stuck in the '88 column but then I'd have carry around a key just for the ignition. FJ60 and FJ62 key cylinders will not interchange.

I've also been dealing with the steering wheel feeling loose on the column. I've had it off more than a few times and today decided to use a newer nut when I reinstalled. This is a 19 mm nut with a integrated serrated washer. Well, apparently with having cranked it down a number of times the serrated washer became compressed and was not doing it's job.

Reinstalled custom AC hoses, AC compressor & filter drier on my 5.3L powered 60. Something is not right… filter is freezing up.

Odometer hit 1/2 million miles today

Driving around on forestry lands in the Red Hills of Alabama and almost dropped into one of these holes. This was a washed out section on the road and the right hand hole was much more difficult to see. Had I dropped into that one it would have been bad, real bad. A low angle and shadow on the road tended to obscure it.

If I had dropped into the left side hole at slow speed the hit would have been soft and I would have been able to winch out backwards, but I saw it in time to stop.

Its not the weekend, but i swapped from a Lokar shifter in my fj60 to a oem fj62 shifter. New carpet has just moved up the list of things to do by a lot. I definitely cut the hole for the shifter too large and theres now a giant hole in the carpet from where the manual shifter used to live.

Need to reattach the overdrive badge and connect the linkage and its all done.
