I drove it for the first time in nearly 7 months.

Drove it down town to the bank. It must be the Bad Driver's Association annual Moab event. Anyway, I got a lot of looks and a big smile from a Lexus badged LC owner.

Today I bench bled a new master cylinder, swapped it in, bled my brakes a couple of times, installed a new fuel filter, and swapped out one spare for another. My brakes are sadly still mushy because I’m awful at bleeding brakes. I’ll get it someday. Pics show my old MC fluid, bench bleeding setup, and my rig with @jonathan Faunce’s from when I his MityVac.

I might have to take you up on that if I can make it by to get it before leaving on Friday.

Doing a valve adjustment (been about 15-16 years since I last did it; did it hot then, doing it cold now and taking into account the extra 0.002", all but two intake valves were dead on perfect still. Two of the intake valves were too loose so I got them dialed in to match the rest). Giving the throttle body, ICS and TPS a good cleaning too. Just finished the throttle body, now want to give the ICS and TPS a good cleanup and make sure they're properly set up. Dirty mess under there, but not horrible. Oil change happening at the same time lol.

Edit: Well crap. Valve cover gasket and grommets are shot so had to get new ones. Should've had the foresight to see that coming. As it is I had to order them from the local dealer to the tune of $94 rather than being able to order them online and save a ton of money. Luckily I already have a new throttle body gasket. Got that good and cleaned and everything's adjusted and dialed in. Wasn't too nasty, but curious to see if I notice any difference in performance or economy between that and the valve adjustment at all on this weekend's trip.

If you have a Costco membership their Auto Buying program gives you 15% off parts at LHM Toyota. Helps a bit.

Installed a new mechanical advance stop pin bushing. I have the EGR disconnected and even with the vacuum advance port connections reversed, the truck would ping with timing at 7°BTDC. As per 99.9% of all our 60’s, the plastic bushing was dust. Picked up the “spacer” at Home Depot for $0.97, had it fixed in less than an hour, including removing and installing the distributor. Bumped the base timing up to 9 or 10° and didn’t hear it ping at all on my quick drive.

would you happen to have any pics of where that belt housing attaches to on the quarter panel ? Looks solid...!!!

I basically drilled a hole thru the cover panel and the metal inner body sheet metal. I then used a large thick fender washer, lock washer, and an inch and a half grade 6 bolt thru the panel from the back side. I then attached the retractor to the bolt with a grade 6 Nut. It seems pretty solid and I feel comfortable letting my daughter ride in the back seat now.

I figure as much....just wonder if you had a pic...

thanks for the quick reply !!! 🍻 🍻

Depending on if the year makes a difference mine is an 84. Where the retractor is mounted there is plenty of steel to mount to. About 4 inches further towards the back there is no longer any steel, just the cover panel.
