I just installed the MAF 2 piece header and y pipe kit.( didn’t do the whole exhaust kit). The header install was very straight forward, I did use a remflex manifold gasket also. I had to add half washers to three bolts because my intake manifold...

Hardest working daily used work truck in all of Mud. Properly modified and driven like a work mule. Cheers @Godwin Gator Jim.

It makes me so happy that your 60 series is used as "work" truck, even more so that it is in the interest of science.

Kisatchie National Forest, Vernon District. Flat pine land. End of the road. A hurricane several years back leveled tens of thousands of large mature pine across the forest.

Banging around in state wildlife management areas and national forests in Louisiana. Many of these roads you could drive in your grandma's Camry but some sections and spots high clearance, occasional 4WD, and maybe a little winch action is...

This brings up uncomfortable complicated emotions. What a great 60 with a great story. I hope her next 35 years are as fun as her first.

Pretty straight forward but the header flange is thicker than the intake flange. I cut "C" washers to make up the difference. I loosely attached the rest and then tightened from the rear forward. I had to adjust the rear hanger a bit to keep...

A few times checking your speedometer with GPS and you will have it down. That time and money is better spent elsewhere. I put a dashcam/ rearview mirror up that also 'had' a GPS speed display. I loved it when it worked. Google maps will show...

I'd rather just swap.the speedo gears or I'll live with it. Not gonna spend a lot to remedy this. Pia right now using an older Garmin that plugs in the cigarette lighter and gets hit when shifting and shuts off.

There is a guy that does speedo correction boxes in CA somewhere. Expensive option is a speedhut GPS Speedo.

@DirtMcgirt79 Replace the pan gasket first. 99% of trucks with the original gasket need it, and the job is so much easier than pulling the transmission. My FJ62 has 262K and still has the original, non-leaking rear main seal. If needed, you can...

Your gauge is lying to you. Your temp gun is showing that your engine is at normal nominal temps. (Dontr be afraid to reach in close and get a variety of readings from smaller, more precisely selected areas too.) Mark...

Don’t trust your factory gauge. When I lived in Arizona, I could see 220° idling in the driveway with the A/C on when it was 115° out. Here in Wisconsin, I don’t see over 200. Cooling system is 100% new, approx 1,000mi on it all, maybe a little...

It's not hard. Get a copy of the FSM from cruisercult, read up and take your time. Also, watch this a few times.

Yep. Case needs to come off. Get new stake nuts and a gasket from @orangefj45 and be done. I made this and other mistakes when doing my first split case, he saved me.

292,000 miles, bb desmog but still has new catalytic converters, cleaned and refreshed injectors and a tune up. Runs and idles perfectly at 650 ac off. 5 speed, 4.11 and 28” tall tires. It’s a really fun truck to drive. It accelerates almost...

Day 1 of a 10 day trip from Alabama through southern Louisiana for field work. First day was about 450 miles. Photo is at the Mississippi rest area on I-10. Pulling the 5x10 trailer with an ATV my mileage is a solid 10 mpg, the in-cab vacuum...

Quite under the hood ( well as quite as a 2f can be) and a nice throaty ( not obnoxious ) exhaust coming out the pipe.

Finally fix the chronically leaking exhaust pipe flange gasket on exhaust manifold. No matter what I tried it always seemed to start leaking. Sometimes sooner some time later, some people might think this is extreme but I was over it. Yep , Man...

When I burp my 40, I park so the front is basically at a 45* angle up. Rock the truck, squeeze every hose I can reach multiple times. It always amazes me how much more air is in there, burp funnel or not.

Shop air in the cylinder using a compression tester adapter to keep the valves from dropping. Extra rocker arm, pedestal and cut-down shaft. I cut the end of the rocker arm off and welded some 1” square tube to the end. 1.25” round would be...
