Got bored after working out and decided to cut up a spare rug I had laying around.

I like it but I'm almost considering spraying adhesive down to make it sit tight against the sheet metal.

EDIT: Ended up going to Lowe's and grabbed the hardware below in 10 x 5/8. Used the existing holes in the bottom center of seat back and fastened up the loose part of the rug/material. Works perfectly and actually looks pretty good.

Well, posting this a little late. But, got my snorkel installed and hooked up to a 62 air canister and 3F carb hat. Also, installed a set of 70 series mirrors-wow what a difference. I can actually see whats around me now!

Is the Shelf Road the old Florence & Cripple Creek narrow gauge roadbed? I've never been north from Canon City, I always hit that part of Colorado through Hartsell on CO 9.

Based on the local history I've read, Shelf Road was a toll road for horse drawn rolling stock linking Cripple Creek & Victor to the flatlands. Early in the Cripple Creek Victor rush there were ore processing facilities in Florence CO. A group in Florence financed construction of the Road. The remains of the toll keepers cabin are visible in a valley along the route.

The Phantom Canyon road came a bit later. It was a rail line and like the toll road it was built to move ore down and supplies up to the mining district. When the railroad closed down the branch it sold the right of way to the county which made a road out of it.

Both current roads use some of the original grades but much is more recent. The originals tended to be lower down and washed out a lot.

It is a fun drive. I go up Phantom and down Shelf. Reason being when downhill on Shelf Road you are on the high side rather than the drop off side. A lot of non 4WD types use these roads so expect some stupidity.

Finally fixed the exhaust leak that has plagued my rig since doing the Vortec conversion.

Take my advice here...if you're going to run these manioflds:

I've been up and down shelf road more times than I can count, that used to be one of our deer hunting spots back in the late eighties.

Not mine, I own a 100, But had to stop and take a look at this Cruiser. It was in for service, sorry for the bad picture but I was already in full creep mode when the owner walked out.

Discovered my secondary idle circuit valve was leaking gas at an alarming rate. Gutted the valve and sealed it back up with a bolt and some JB weld.

Hardest part was researching what the damn thing was and what to do with it! It's pretty easy job, here are the steps I took to gut and plug it. 1) push lever arm pin out and remove lever (hammer and a nail) 2) cut brass bushing and valve stem flat with housing (grinder makes super quick work of this) 3) Use a small drill bit to drill out opposite sides of the brass bushing and remove contents. (try not to drill the aluminum) 4) tap and plug the hole

Last weekend went out to Walker Valley ORV and took #FitzJ60 out for some light wheeling. Broke a driver side motor mount and parked it as the fan was hitting the shroud. Not a lot of wiggle room to get the new mounts out. Wish I had replaced the neg ground cable while I was in there.
