Still trying to determine why it's idling rough.
Completed vacuum leak check, carb solenoid, engine fuse, pulled the plugs, no problems there they looked good and clean, I'm at a loss...

Have you sprayed starting fluid or brake cleaner around the intake manifold ports while running?

If the idle changes in any way while doing this, you have a manifold leak or warpage.....

Near impossible to get a smooth idle under these conditions.

MS is so laid back compared to CO. I got a ticket at 5:30 in the morning, no other traffic around, for making a right turn and going to the left lane too soon. Even though I was turning left coming right up. Bastards. As for the plates, If the Hi-Lift wasn't there, less than half of the plate would show and I'm guessing yours is similar. That really wouldn't fly here so no Trasharoo for me.

Winched a trail blocking widow maker Hemlock into submission, into pieces, and out of the way……AND I get to send an invoice for it…...

I finally completed my gutter resealing project (I blame @PatrickM for his thread). The cruiser has a couple water intrusion issues and the gutter sealer was old and cracked so that was the main target. I waited until we had a warm day in Seattle. It ended up being a little too warm....
Here are the supplies:

Lots of prep. The removal of the seam sealer took the longest! Most of the gutters were cleaned out with a wire brush, dremel wire brush, and a 1/4" wood chisel. The A-pillars were the hardest as the working space was really narrow. A combination of the wood chisel and a dental pick did the trick. After all the seam sealer was removed, lots of sanding, then degreaser, then a tack cloth, then 2K epoxy primer (Make sure you have the appropriate respirator).

Following the epoxy primer I used 3M Control Flow seam sealer for the gutters. You will need about 300mL of seam sealer for your gutters, which equated to 1.5 tubes. This stuff was great but dried SUPER fast! The warm day did not help at all. It spreads nicely but you have to work fast to get it the way you want (I used an acid brush). Needless to say, as a beginner, this stuff was a challenge but it all came out ok in the end. These gutters definitely will not leak for a long time!

The paint from automotivetouchup was great. High quality stuff. Yes, you can see a new paint line where I resealed the gutters but that is fine by me. The plan is to get the cruiser painted in the next couple of years, but the gutters needed attention now, so its mainly a stop gap. Being in Seattle, its not a good idea to wait to address any water intrusion issues. This cruiser is part of the family and we need it to stick around for a long time to come. Now the gutters are fresh, sealed and ready for a sweet new roof rack from @reevesci :bounce:

Speaking of roof racks, I removed the playschool dealership installed one that was just screwed into the sheet metal roof . I ground out the surface rust and painted the roof around the holes. The holes will be plugged with little rubber plugs and urethane sealer (3M 5200) until I can find someone weld them shut.

Good to hear about your results with the paint. I'm getting ready to order several aerosol cans in the same color for my '86 FJ60 project. I need to paint the inner fenders and the radiator support. I also need to touch up the passenger side fender - the PO had a "passably adequate" (I picked that term up from a co-worker in New Orleans) paint job done on the fender after a minor fender bender. Looks like it's the right paint to buy.

Spent a bit of time on relocating the Evap assembly on my 83 FJ60 to make room for eventual side panel storage. Hidden mod, who can find it?

Also test fit the the bumper on the car. Sticks out a fair bit it, but I also haven't had a bumper on the front in a while.

Which made me think about if it would fit in the garage.

Tons of room. Looks like the bumper is going to get put on after the monstaliner is done and the car lives outside.

^^ remote latch for the fuel door?

Hooked up my dual battery for the winch. Need to do a little wire trimming later.

Beautiful routing and shock/rubbing isolation. Love those post connectors.

What I did today...a little messier but my own fault ;)

Pretty simple job but, I replaced the fuel filler neck gasket. It was leaking water into the rear quarter panel. Took about 10 minutes once the interior panel was removed so I could get access. Here is a photo of the old then new gasket.

This is definitely on the list for projects to complete soon. Glad it was easy!
