Ok thanks, I'll try that next time. The c-clips on the NAPA CVs have a round profile and little "wings" while the OEM c-clips have a square profile and are more circular. I wonder if the NAPA c-clips are harder to seat?

I always apply a small dab of grease to the c-clip so that it is held in place (not falling to the bottom) which makes seating much easier.

Pulled out a badly stuck FJ. My buddy in the JK winched him up and I had a snatch block to a tree on the left down to his rear to keep his back end from sliding farther down. Once rigged we got him out pretty quick. That yellow strap is hooked to a come along the owner broke before we got there. I think he broke something up front as neither of his front tries were spinning when he was coming out, he had it in 4WD, don't know much about that system but the guy said he heard some clunks when he was first trying to get out. He had been stuck since 1 am and we got him out about 10:30.

Then we went on to play in the snow. Really wanted to see what the GX could do in some deep stuff. Played with ARB rear locker, ATRAC, all nannies off to get a good feel for how all things worked. ATRAC has its places, but so does wheel spin. Also put the Rudd chains on for the last couple of hills. Ran them pretty hard, actual harder than I intended and they held together. But I did bend some of the connector brackets when I dug into the frozen ground and the rig leaned into the side of the hole, if that makes sense. Below is not the pic in the hole, didn't get that pic, actually pretty impressed with how deep it dug and honesty I didn't realize it had dug so deep until after I got out. No signs of chains hitting anything underneath on the truck and my buddy also said he never heard them hit. Had to winch up the hill in the last pic. Deep sugar snow with some ice underneath in places so even if you could dig all the way down, little traction. All in all a fun day blasting drifts and and putting it through its paces.

Added video link, not the best but gives an idea of how steep and deep with ATRAC working.

What size tires do you run?

OEM wheels right? Any spacer? BMC?

I am really surprised you able to run chains with no rubbing.

Tires are BFG KO2 in 285/70-17 Load E. They did pretty good in that sugar snow for an AT, MTs would have dug better.

Wheels I switched to 4 runner and that gave me another 1/2” of clearance for the UCA and in general. On drivers side the rear of frame is polished where I do get a bit of rub apparently. Passenger a little rub on sway bar. Interesting how it is not symmetrical.

No BMC and no spacers

I did try to avoid turning full lock with chains on. Those RUD chains are not as thick 4.5mm as I ran on my 80, 7mm. I kept a set of those for the rear but didn’t use them on this outing.

Went camping last night. Sleeping platform inside with two kids. Was comfy. 61° was the low, although I would have guessed mid 50s.
