AC clutch bearing was making a lot of noise, with the help of @medtro we were able to tip the compressor enough to get a angled snap ring plier on the snap ring then a puller to remove the pulley.

Not a difficult job with 4 hands. Quiet like it should be. Many thanks to my friend Jackson and to Alvis @Cruddz ( he happened to have the correct bearing in his parts stash).

Back up and running with new tires too, ready for some holiday wheeling

Horseshoe area

The back way water crossing to Sheeps Bridge is unpassable. Pictured below is the first crossing that I found out the hard way is hood deep.

I have no idea what that means! Time to do some internet research, eh?

So you can do this at 50 mph :grinpimp:
- Note to self stay off the computer when traveling in unfamiliar areas 🥴

I installed some LandTank caster correction plates and 6 new Toyota OEM front control arm bushings. The tire scooting that was there when making slow sharp turns is gone. I feel a definite improvement over the OME caster correction bushings. Also welded up a broken exhaust hanger.

For sometime I have been having a really low idle issue. Today I replaced some vacuum hoses and made sure the ones under the intake manifold were still connected. With the LC sitting for awhile I had to jump start the LC. Once I got it jumped I messed with a few things. The major one being the throttle cable, I adjusted the throttle cable as it was really loose. After the LC had warmed up completely I adjusted it so the idle was 650-750 RPM without the AC on, with the AC on it jumped to 800 RPM. The real test will be tomorrow AM when I try and start it again. Fingers crossed!!!

Have not seen any holiday wheeling threads.🙁

project of the day on the 80 and the LX was: feed weedwacker line down the sunroof drain holes . . .

Michael insisted on washing the trucks after we went wheeling on Saturday, which is when we discovered both of the A-pillars leaking into the cab on the 80

and today we did the same thing on the GX - but it didn't solve our problem: we get water coming in at the top of the passenger A-pillar and dripping into the passenger footwell from below the glovebox right at the A-pillar, too

the sunroof drain does drain, but we don't know where the additional water comes into the cab  - anybody have an idea where we should look ?

I’ve got out of town guests until Monday afternoon so looking like a New Year’s Eve run might be in order @Funner you game ?

Well good news. Today I have started and let the LC warm up 3 times without jump starting it and it drops down to 700-750 after warming up completely.

Check for windshield leaks.

Drove out to the end of Fort McDowell road and explored a bit with a dude in a white 200 series landcruiser I met at the Chevron in Fountain Hills.

Did the spare tire “lift” today. All went well until I discovered PO’s bent tire lowering rod. Seriously, was pretty easy to do. I ended up with a limited set of M8-1.25x160 bolts (which I used for the lowering mechanism), so relied on 1/4”x6” cap end bolts for the rest. Actually worked pretty well! Two 36” x 1/2” tube steel cut to 5”, a series of 1/4” washers, and some corresponding nylock nuts.
The lowering mech threads worked great with M8-1.25x150mm bolts.

yes, thanks for the suggestion - did that already

but the water into the cab mostly comes in through the sunroof drain

did you go up Camp Creek Wash ? - some neat rock walls there, and several side trails . . .

evidently, quite a bit of sand came down the wash with the recent rains - that "staging area" (as the Forest Service calls it) was more rocky a few weeks ago

Well, check sunroof drain :)

that's what I reported in my earlier post: green weedwhacker line snaked down both front sunroof drain holes, and they drain nicely now - but there's still water coming into the cab

I know, which is why I suggested check windshield in the first reply.

Then you said you did that too, hence the :) in the 2nd reply.
