I drove my bj-70 through the Fairbanks, AK, winters, it was my only vehicle. What I did with my 70 series the other day was drive it to work (like most days), but I did hit a milestone:

Are you able to get periodic specific (appropriate part numbers) wiring stuff for your vintage 70? I would love to do the same to mine

Tightening up the Pinion nut to increase preload/reduce pinion wobble and tightening up the adjusters in the rearend to reduce backlash worked wonders! Driveshaft wobble/vibration is gone. Driveline slack is almost eliminated. Makes it feel like a much newer truck.Pulled the rear third member on the BJ73 to address what I thought was a worn out pinion bearing and bad seal. Pinion nut was loose. I'm guessing previous owner hit a rock or something and crushed the crushwasher a bit, but then there was slack. I Snugged it down to a better preload, reset backlash from .015 to .007 and installed a new pinion seal. I had some slack in the driveline and a little vibration at highway speed from the pinion wobble. Hopefully she'll be tight and smooth now.............Spartan locker goes in on reassembly tomorrow.
