Could I do this if I had a prop rod? Probably not.

Hood strut kits are ready ship. Thanks to those that have paid....these will go out Monday most likely. Still have a few of this first batch ready to go for anyone interested.

I put mine at 1 7/8 inches. If it's closer Than that the plate does not sit flat against the hood.

if it's farther than that the hood brace is too narrow at the top end.

Discovered several days ago that my rear parking lights were not working....
Not sure how long they haven't been working since I rarely look at the rear tail lights at night. The turns signals, brake lights, backup lights and license plate lights are working.
Checked the resistance of the dual filament bulbs and they tested good. Checked voltage at the bulb contacts and there was none...
Pulled up the wiring schematic from the shop manual; found pin and wiring color at the bulkhead connector inside the cab on the passenger side. There was voltage there...
Disassembled the factory wire loom at the tail lights and separated the wiring; it was quite obvious the previous owner had been working on the harness....
What a night mare that harness was.... It took me an almost two hours to sort out the mess....
Removed a lot of extra wiring that did nothing, straightened the wiring and sealed the split wire loom.
The rear tail lights are now working properly.
Thankfully my brother was there to lend a hand......

Thank you so much for this info. We used your measurement and got the struts installed last night. For those of you that don't install struts often, I learned there is no need to remove the spring clips to install the strut. Simply place the female end over the ball and pop it on. I went the @cruiseroutfit route and used 5 mm rivnuts. Gave me an excuse to buy a rivnut tool. Found it using this thread: Need Advice: Rivet Nut Install Tool Great strut kit @c2dfj45!

Sorry Peter....missed this. Looks like you got it figured out. The plates should only fit in one area nicely......like Cdan said...too far up and it extends over the cross brace. Too close and it doesn't fit the curve.

Maybe when we do the next batch I'll write up some instructions.

While I was there I picked up this Escape Gear tire cover. Really well made and useful. Trasharoos while useful have a tendency to fall apart from UV damage. They also look like a full diaper when loaded

Thanks for posting up info about this light. Have you tried it out in the dark? Did you get the white with red or yellow version? I am wondering if it is more light than is needed, given the size of the middy?

This one is white/yellown and has three intensity settings for each color. I am very happy with the light output. I positioned it dead center above the rear door opening. I had to trim the upper latch cover slightly to clear the lamp.

where did you get that floor carpet?

The forward section is OEM vinyl purchased from the local Dealer. It is for a 75 series, not a 73/74 but it fits OK. The back section is generic vinyl. The texture is different but the gray color is a fair match and the material is about twice as thick as OEM.

Put the new tires on and promptly tested them on hwy, dirt, beach sand then muddy/rain ditch because of (another) hail storm. (no damage)
