Has anyone any experience with towing mirrors for a 75 or 79 series?
We have a big camper box on the tray and I have extended the original mirrors but that extension puts a lot of stress on the metal in the door when driving on corrugated roads.

Any ideas?
I have seems the Australian Clear view mirrors but....$$$$$
Any others that work?

Hi Esben,

I spent a fair bit of time looking into this as well in the past, and after extensive research, I went with these:

They are currently on sale too, pretty good deal IMO. They are robust, and I have had them for close to a year now and I am very happy with them.

I had the OCAM. Be aware they're designed for RHD not LHD.

I ended up taking mine off as they are cartoonishly large.
What do you mean by they're designed for RHD not LHD? The mirrors are identical, one for the left and one for the right? Or maybe you had a different version than what I have?

They are large, but I wanted larger ones for visibility when backing up a trailer. I could not find a regular glass OEM one. They all were convex, which is ridiculous!! Anyways, they are definitely not for everyone.

I was told a while back that OCAM wouldn’t ship to the U.S. Perhaps that policy has changed.

It's literally on their website. I ran out of adjustment getting both to see the very edge of the vehicle looking into the mirrors.

The original fender mounted ones work great for me…That’s why I kept them. Lots of adjustment.

I bought a set of original door mirrors but will probably never install them.

I also stuck with the fender mounted mirrors, but added “fish eyes” to aid with merging into traffic.

For the G-wagens you can buy a milled spacer block to space the mirror out an inch or so. Its not much but I wonder if a small spacer would help, without adding too much leverage to the door sheet metal? My trailer (at least the one behind the 70 series) is going to be pretty small, but I have been wondering if I'll need enhanced mirrors?
