If you're parked on level ground, you can run the engine without the valve cover on. Might be easier to know what's wrong if you can see it moving
Its all moving, but somethings not doing good. Is there press in valve seats on these engines?? the ol screwdriver ear tactic tells me its the hump to the front of the cyl 3 spark plug.

Or there’s a foreign object in there, like a hex nut. Better pull the head. I wouldn’t run it anymore until you get it figured out.
Yup. That's a bad noise that shouldn't be there. It probably won't fix itself. Pull the rocker shaft and take out the pushrods, are they all straight? Do all your valve stems come up to the same height? Maybe one sits taller like it did drop a seat?
Got a borescope? Or a friend with a borescope?

I have a friend with a borescope, ill ask if I can borrow it. The pushrod for cyl3 was a bit wallered out, im going to pull the head and do a full work up here and see whats taken a dump and try to save this engine. If I can keep the driveline original I want to because the 3 on the tree is fun. Removal of the head starts as soon as I get home from work. Never done it on a straight 6 so ill be prepared to blow my coin purse out tryna yank it lol

Pull the rocker shaft and take out the pushrods,
I forgot, take a good look at your rocker shaft. If one of the springs or spacers has failed a rocker could have walked too far in one direction and not be acting on the valve as it's supposed to.

Problem solved. I borrowed my friend bobs endoscope. there was a tiny piece of metal in the cylinder, which came from the plug. The plug for cylinder 3 was flippin exploded. The porcelain was cracked and the whole electrode was in the cylinder. BRAND NEW NGK V power plug too. Piece fished out, new plug put in, shes runnin on all 6 again ready to take me to work in the morning.

Whew!

I'd give NGK a call.
One time I bought a bag of M&M candies.
They tasted rancid and I couldn't finish the bag, they were just nasty for some reason.
I had plenty of time on my hands so I called their quality assurance number.
They sent me something like $2 in the mail and a coupon for more product.
I'm sure a company like NGK would want to know about it if their product has a manufacturing defect that could take out an engine.
They'd like to know and by telling them you could get a few bucks, free product and or a baseball cap, by simply giving them the feedback that they live on.

So I drove it to work. and it still just runs terribly. Its on all 6 but its still doing that thing where if youre trying to accelerate it will do a puff of air and stumble. Idles fantastically. can rev slowly no issues. but when you try to drive it just cant get out of its own way. Ive got all my spark. definitely got the compression. So I am looking at the carb I have a receipt from having freshly redone in 2018 by SOR and installed by the LC guy for camelback toyota who has since gone on his own. got the spark. I know im gettin the fuel to the carb. I know I have the compression. So now I bring into question the fuel delivery

Does pulling the choke do anything?
What is your timing set at?

choke doesnt do anything, timing is dead on the dimple on the flywheel, and cyl 4 spark is erratic. But if I rev it the puff of air is the engine burping out the carb.

you might want to try advancing your timing a bit, try putting it where the dimple is just about to disappear from the window. see if that helps.
I will give that a shot after work today. I was starting to think our 7000ft elevation was an issue.

at 7k feet you may want even more advance.
So I tried advancing - wont start. retard it - wont start. Put it on the dot, and it starts. At this point. I am exploring some options.
