For some reason, the wheels rubbed on these boots, but didn't before, so have a 1/4" spacer up front, to clear.

Front springs were re-arched and repinned.

Concerned it was a tad high and way too stiff, at first, but after 500 miles or so, it's settled and half inclined to try to stiffen the rears.

As she sits, everything drivetrain related, from the HZ back, has been replaced or professionally rebuilt, recoated (establishing value. Not bragging, nor ashamed.)

Next up, turbo and shocks.

And, no. It ain't Marlin Duece Stacked low, but damn impressive for stock cases, stock thirds, stock lockers....

No bus loads of nuns were harmed during shooting. :flipoff2:

Best to leave the steering alone....can't see how one would muscle the wheel around, locked.

Yes, I suck at videos, but beats ten paragraphs explaining measures of feet per hour, at 3/4 throttle.

Off to the mall parking lot for the real test, now.

Oh crap! Here I was looking at the rubber isolators on the top of the 1/2 doors wondering if
they are stock door caps for when the windows are removed? Do you have pics of them off,
I'd be curious to see what they look like.
Looks like the door is repairable, I sure hope so. Sure beat the front of that jeep bad!!

I was wondering how an insurance company will appraise a non-US truck...

They are stock and standard issue with the Portugese spec 73s.

I don't, but will try to remember to remove and take pics. About a 5 minute job, if that, but 5 minutes is a commodity I can't seem to find.

Remind me if I forget, please.

Probably is, but searching for a more elegant solution, first, associated with it a price tag on an invoice.

I have a few non-RT doors that the skins might be salvaged from, but don't have time and it's of the essence when dealing with issues of this nature.

Or.....can bend to fit, paint to match, and plate up the rear door with one of Kurt's Expo One carrier mounts. :) doubt they'd spring for that (but I might....if it were available.)

I expected a helluva lot more damage, based on the impact, and can't believe it's limited to the wheel, carrier, long door and lower rear quarter.

I've crawled all over and under and there's no disturbance of anything else, so the tire cushioned the blow.

The lower quarter damage is perplexing.... I could see where is barely rode up the hood of the jeep, but didn't even notice until the white paint caught my eye.

I was wondering how an insurance company will appraise a non-US truck...

No insurance will be involved, unless the combination of repairs exceed an amount the girl's parents can/will pay.

I have little doubt of affluence, and the mom was very professional and cordial when meeting, so think it'll be giving them an amount and receiving that amount.

After asking if she was ok and stating it wise to turn off car, I said

'Don't cry. s*** happens.....s*** is forgotten as life goes on, and this is nothing to get upset about.'

Then I cried like a little bitch.....

Just kidding. :flipoff2:

Thanks for the pic of the Factory Parts bag. My doors are donors from a central American truck and the tool bag, etc
were long gone unfortunately. I looked through my parts list but couldn't find it, although now I'm suspecting I will look
for the whole kit.
Can't believe you can be so lucky in a sense that they being cordial and cooperative. If you do end up buying a new
door, and don't want to post the cost I'd appreciate a pm just so I have a bit of a clue as to what my own costs could
be in the event of...thx, J

@joekatana had one or two of the rubber insert bags, not too long ago.

I think he's on an Amish swingers cruise somewhere off the Land of Oz, but should reply when service area resumes and the hirsute wimmins return to their clothes.

I've been remiss posting the 35% pics....

Pulling the hard top premature of having all gaskets, seals, and a plan for hard top restoration was a mistake, since I can't put back on in good conscience, without fixing.

All kinds of water ran out of top when standing on end, so the side glass, possibly drop channels will need more attention than hoped.

Holy crap Chris luckely only the doors are damaged.

I should have a few pair of oem removable top doors from Spanish Cruisers in a few months if you can wait that long.

I believe I have one of those bags with the oem rubbers available but will need to check when I get back next week from my "Amish swingers cruise down under " ;)

That, and a little pride, since the girl never said anything about how cool the Cruiser was....

Painter, like the parts guy, seem to vacay more than a Hilton, so waiting isn't an option....

:flipoff2:

(Color matched, exterior and upper inner rails, only.... :) )

I thought gimmicky until pulling tops and seeing the gaping holes.

Dont see any instance where cabrio would pull and shield fold down, so doubt I'll ever use fronts, but the rears do clean it up.

I get back next week from my "Amish swingers cruise down under " ;)

Any truth to the Aussie Lassies sporting a 'Cousin It'-ish look, au natural?

Bahahahahaha.

A wise old sage once imparted the wisdom:

'Cut to fit. Paint to match.'

- @cruiserdan

Imparted, out came the sawzall, and 'fixed' the leaking sliders that no seals can be had for.....

Kinda looks like a fair chested woman with a muffin top on stilts for legs (maybe not in pics, but didn't want the flaws to show)

Don't know how one would clean up the rear cut/rear lines. Was going to cut the B pillar covers off, completely, leaving only the top, but looked kinda ghey, too.

THERE HAS to be a better way to summer top this girl, besides swapping hard to OE soft once a year.

I'm compelled to find something, after being caught in a freak flash flooding rain for 5 miles earlier today.

Anyone know what Carl Montoya used?

It didn't look a perfect fit, but can surely clean up.

That stirs fond memories of gen 1 Broncos with pickup cabs.....You go girl......:grinpimp:

Hilarious, I have a damaged roof from a rollover. It never occurred to me to just cut the back off!! I've got
another one that is mint.
Hey, how about a sunroof too? LOL!
