Continuing quest for interior completion and needing to address console, hoping for ability to store more than two pens, lighter, and roll of quarters, as well security for soon to be topless status.

Best I can tell, the only Tuffy that accommodates the floor mounted parking brake and fits is one for a samurai.

Can you post a photo of how you got the roll of quarters to fit? :)

Confirmed?

Part number?

Think the 2LT's were R151F/RF1A equipped, like a mini truck. The unicorn is R151F/HF1A (like an HZJ105) with reduction box.

We got those combos but standard reduction 2.48:1 and 4.30 on the axles ..

I exaggerated, just a tad....

Confirmed?

Like the rings around Uranus.

Alberto's sending his unit to test fit, so hope to firm up and declare success or fail.

Have to figure a way to suspend the console, too.....

Joking.

Too bad the slim 40 Tuffy doesn't fit. It's cavernous and tall enough to serve as both arm rest and grab bar.

Throw another reduction box on and you'd have a fairly lethal grouping of ratios, which is what I'm trying to do, albeit H not R.

H and R output shafts interchange (19-23 spline)

HF1A came with R input (23 spline) in the HZJ105s.

If there's a will there's a way to bolt up an RF1A reduction housing between an H150F and HF1A and without even changing the 2.48:1's in either housing, have a decent L and a LL.

Throw in a set of Marlin's gears in the reduction box, and it'd make the low BF1A gear set look like a drag racer.

Interested in that center console install and how you like it. I need a new as well.

I don't think the Zuki console is viable, which probably explains why I'm 3-4th recipient of Cruiser Karma 'pass down' thereof.

It's difficult to determine fit of a product when there's no detail plan given or without seeing a vehicle that one was meant for.

In this case, the Tuffy is 5 1/4" wide, with the cutout for ebrake within that 5 1/4" dimension (have it sketched at home, if anyone wants) so by placing the slot over the ebrake handle, it offsets the console significantly DS, is no taller (to top of metal lid) than the OE, and is pretty small for the effort.

The normal 6 1/2" Tuffy with area boxed out for ebrake would may ideal, if boxing would allow it to slide forward, otherwise fold and tumble seat would be rendered useless. Not many used offerings and no one wants to cut a new Tuffy...... so pondering removal of the used in 40 to cut, then putting new in it, or (as bad as ih8toadmit) since profession centers around steel, may whip one up that suits perfectly, instead of adapting.

BUT

Latest round of refurbishment....

Since the springs are staying, flipped the wrap to the back, re-drilled in the forward location, re-arched springs and spring shop spackled on some kind of black goop that seems unfaded by straight blows from a hammer.

Since axles and steering will remain:

Picked up the longer differential studs from Cruiser Outfitters too.

Front driveshaft extended, front and rear rebuilt, balanced and repainted.

Locked thirds going in fine, but short the retainer....

As seen here in Alberto's HZJ70.

If anyone should have available, I'm interested in, and quickly, so please let me know.

Yes, I know I can make something work, but prefer the eloquent OE solution, and willing to pay to appease myself.

Photos of yummy new parts are fine and dandy. Let's see that stuff in place...:flipoff2:

Photos of shiny parts are fine....

Harbinger of fail.....

Removed intake, manifolds, few other bits from the 'project' HZ a few months back, to blast and coat, for installation with turbo, with directive expressed that they be the same color/luster as the valve cover, or duller.

Not only does it bring the bling that has no place in the bay, but a crappy job that looks like pitted chrome, to boot.

Geez, that really does look good!!

You putting those aluminum modular wheels on in place of the trail ready wheels?
