The more I look at it (too much) the more I like the black valve cover. Once the blue and red silicone is replaced with black and I get some black heat paint on the intake/throttle body the look will be complete.

The titanium turbo blanket and titanium wrapped IC to throttle pipe will be gold. The rear of the IC is coming up 2 inches to get the needed clearance between the turbine housing and the rear intake pipe.

Almost ready for pickup. Just a few more details to button up such as gauge pod, some vacuum lines that need to be changed, and some other minor details.

Woo Hoooo!!!

:steer:

This has been about 500Xs faster than the machine shop. You guys rock!
Thanks Bret. Glad we can get your Land Cruiser back to the monster it was along with some more upgrades ;)

Here is another photo from a few minutes ago. some minor changes. Still a few things to finish up. Should be ready for you tomorrow.

that's a beaut! Very impressive.

jamisobe picked up his Land Cruiser earlier today. Enjoy the truck Bret, I'll touch base with you this evening to see how your drive was and to follow up.

I posted this in the current LT MAF thread, but the info also belongs in this thread.

Drove the truck yesterday and today and it was getting 10psi of boost with the 9pound spring set up. The truck cruised right around 14.6-15.1 AFR. When the accelerator was punched AFR went to mid to low 13s and then down to low 12s high 11s as boost hit 10 psi in the peak power band. Cruising on part throttle with some boost the AFR stayed right around 10 AFR. At full throttle I was only able to get it down to 12/11s in 1st and 2nd gear since I did not have the room to run 3rd gear (or 4th haha) into the peak power curve.

I was told that timing looked at through the scan meter did not detect any major drop offs. It ran approx. 7 degrees advance up to 14 degrees under full boost. I was told that this is a conservative curve, but that is how Toyota ECUs typically run.

The power and sound are both amazing and power comes on right away. Lag is practically non-existent to non-existent. More to come...

Can you tell me what that is that your PCV is venting into?

interesting... that puts my little glass one from Jegs to shame! :)

found interesting your AFR around 10 ( richer ) at half throttle compared to ARF at WOT ..
Yeah, if cruising along without load in vacuum it would be around 14.7, but when applying some throttle for slight acceleration or to maintain speed on grade (1-5 psi of continuous boost) it would drop to 10. I can only figure that it runs very rich under continuous throttle as a result of intentional boost programming in the interest of safety and cooling? Not exactly sure, but that's what it's doing.

I have been researching info on tuner sites and learning. Apparently some look to program a slope to AFRs. Starting at low boost under full throttle they step down starting at around 13.5 for 1-2 psi, down to 13 for 3-4psi, 12.5 = 5-7 psi, 12 = 8-9 psi, then 11.5 for 10 psi and on up. Their goals include getting the AFR to 11.5 by the time the engine hits peak power/torque and they prefer it to be slightly on the lean side before max torque/power starts for better spool up. That is almost exactly what mine is doing under full throttle.

so do you supply a mail order kit for this?
Yes, we have the FZJ80 turbo kits available for mail order. PM me for details if you need one soon. I should have the Stage1 - 5 kits on the website later this week.

Transgo makes 2 different kits for the A343F and both can be found on ebay.

The tech guy I spoke to said the reprogramming kit will provide very firm shifts for high power with a higher than OEM stall speed.

He recommended the shift kit for less aggressive applications.
