@pawwright Are you trying to lift from the frame? My 80 OEM bottle jack still works (but barely) to get my 315's off the ground on a flat surface when used under the axles. Hmmm, maybe that's your problem on the front of the 100 - no solid axle?

Yeah - at least in the front - I remembered to try it on the rear with the bottle jack and all was good when I did it way back.... then yesterday I needed to lift the driver side front and realized I had to use the frame rail.... but will probably go the route suggested by @GLTHFJ60

Do you want a floor/bottle jack or a high-lift style jack?

You could carry a chunk of 6x6 post around in your truck and use the factory bottle jack. However, why do you need about 24" of lift from something you carry around to change tires on the street? I don't understand.

It's probably not 24" overall, most likely 22" or so in the front with the suspension fully dropped. I guess I could ratchet the front to limit droop..... sounds like a plan to just use a big chunk of wood. Thanks.

Looking through the FSM in preparation for a rear drum brake replacement and I keep seeing references to SST's.

Do I really need to buy a special service tool for a brake job?#?!

No. Now, if you're talking about the 80 there is an "SST" needed to get the full float hub nut off but we can get around that.

Espeaking of tools... I decided parse out my tools into smaller components and wraps instead of one big tool bag like I have now. One single toolbag makes it easy to find "it", but hard to find all the crap in there. And it's too heavy for a frail old guy to pick up.
So, smaller canvas bags, one with electrical stuff, one with tire stuff, one with hoses stuff, etc, makes it easier to grab what's needed. Of course, small bags means I will forget where I put them, so will still have a similar problem.

No.

My mom's significant other passed away and I got a semi-vintage Columbian D45-M3 utility vise. Obviously not a @S4Cruiser 400 pound wilton, but deserved some love regardless.

If tools can be sexy, that is it right there.

I've always like those Columbians. Just a classic '60s / '70s style and red definitely suits it!

A little BLO on the raw metal parts will help prevent rust...just remember BLO soaked rags can spontaneously combust. Makes me nervous and never just toss them in the trash until they are completely dry.

After getting in on the recovery gear special that Summit was running I had 9 shackles in 4 different colors. The shackles in the special are flo yellow. Lots of folks will have them in yellow now.

That is flo orange, does not photograph well

I love high vis stuff...for the life of me, i cant understand the camo/realtree phone covers.. last thing id wanna do is drop my phone that looks like the woods while on a walk in the woods LOL

I had a camouflage flashlight one time, worst idea ever.
It didn't last very long, maybe someone else found it.

I had black shackles at first, they disappear on the ground in the woods. That is when I started painting with bright colors

So many of JC's tool and parts pics are in the kitchen or dining room of his large house. We can only wonder what fills the rest.

Keeping on track, I found a handy item at The Container Store to protect an important tool that I usually keep in the truck - the FSM. It's a giant vinyl zipper bag. And, no, they didn't have one in pink.

Had no clue what that was - assumed it was just a huge pop rivet thing. Googled it and that's cool as hell! Could really use that for some bolt on trailer stuff - so I don't have to run bolts all the way through 2" box steel.

I have the smaller version your welcome to borrow James. Depending on the size hardware you need to use, its Good to 3/16" i think
