Hey there.
I was wondering if anyone in the club, possibly in the Raleigh area has the Gamiviti 80 series seat gear press tool that they'd loan out? Or I could even come to you with the parts.

There's a tool for that? I just threw the gears in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes and they went on the shafts with no problem. I can't remember if I tapped them in with a hammer or if I pressed in a bench vise. Either way, they've been fine for 7 years now with no special tool required.

Awesome, That’s good to know. Tim’s asking $65 for it which is too high for me to buy and use once.
I really feel like I can get the gears on without the tool too but get in my head sometimes as I hate breaking new parts. I have a vice, press, hammers, etc. it just sounded like lots of people had issues with pressing it on the knurling straight and causing the gear to split in half.

Boiling hot water softens the nylon so it is less likely to crack. It might be a good idea to find a piece of pipe that the gear will just barely fit inside of to support the outside of the gear while you push the shaft in. I would like to think you could come up with something far cheaper than a single use $65 tool. Maybe just use a hose clamp. I didn't use anything other than hot water.

What?

I’m pretty sure I’ve got your old seats with broken gears in my parts stash! Saving for a rainy day.
