Starting assembly. We also need to do another buff and polish on the paint and install the new sunroof glass.

Later in the week the truck is being sent to ASM Auto Upholstery to install the new leather, install a new headliner, new sun visors, re-carpet my drawer system and install leather on the center console.

I also obtained all clear glass which should arrive at the end of the week. Goodbye bronze metallic tint! Finally uniform tint on all the windows!!

After that we will disassemble the interior and sound deaden everything and then install the new OEM carpet.

After that the truck is heading to Slee for ARB lockers, re-gearing, winch install, interior winch controls, OEM dash knob for lockers, etc...

And after that we should have the HID retrofit back from HID Illusionz with a quad projector setup installed in glass Depot headlights setup :)

Nice job.
Are you doing anything to the help the windows roll up and down better?

@PDoyle -- We have all new window runs, belt moldings, weatherstrips and felts. I'll lubricate when assembling.

new sunroof installed. The sunroof comes with the weatherstrip/ rubber molding. Dan mentioned that the weatherstrip/ sunroof rubber molding isnt available separately so I just bought an entire new unit.
In the course of replacing, we broke the plastic sunroof garnish trim :(
The sunroof garnish trim is only available in grey these days so we will need to refinish them to the tan color....

This is an amazing project! I love it. Thanks for sharing the experience.

Drooling all the way. I was also considering a similar project but was going to wait for better weather... Texas heat is hard to paint in. Will you let us know how much the paint cost came to?

I had a shop quote $5000.

Yeah I found out the hard way too. Took the truck to a ship had them change the sunroof. They broke the trim pieces and didn't tell me. I didn't notice it until a week later when I pulled back the cover to open the sunroof and they were missing. I went back to the shop and they won't fess up to breaking them and they were just "misplaced". So I searched all over finally found 1 Lexus dealer that said they had them in oak. Ordered them and they showed up in grey. Total pain. I left them off but it is ugly without them.

@scottryana ... did you not want to paint the grey pieces tan?

I thought about it, but I have seen some really terrible interior paint/dye jobs in the past where it is peeling and looks a mess. 80% of the time I have the shade pulled the other 20% I have the sunroof open so I just left it. :-/

I found some paint from an automotive supply store. It is especially for painting on plastic and rubber. I found a very very close match to the interior is my Lexus LX 450, Oak. I to purchase those little surrounds in gray and just part just the paint and painted it and nobody will ever know because it looks perfect!

Why not find a set of the surrounds in the correct color from a partout and clean them up? Should be substantially cheaper than new. It would be a shame to skimp on a detail like that with as thorough a refresh as you're putting this rig through.

Speaking of sunroof surround, found out mine cracked by itself I guess due to the Texas heat. I am going to order mine through my source cross the water, suppose to be tan color. Will let you guys know if it actually show up in tan. ;)

I'll try and source tan ones from CruiserParts just in case the grey ones we paint dont turn out perfect

Shoot me a picture of the sunroof trim piece you need. I may have it in oak. I could donate it to your build.

Also, while I have your ear, I need to paint the front clip on my 40th. Were you happy with the paint match? If so, what brand paint did they use?

Thanks,
