Yeah should be a nice fit; plenty of power out of the box, a decent transmission (using the 80 transfer case with an adaptor), fairly inexpensive and dead reliable. The Toyota purists will scoff but whatever. I could get a newer Toyota diesel and pay 3x the price for 1/2 the power. I'm not mathematician but that's just silly. So L92 it is
Sounds like fun! How custom will the adapter plate have to be?

The '93 Troopy Hodgepodge
It'll be slow moving for a while.
I'll be deploying here soon and we can't import the Troopy until the end of the year due to the 25 year rule and the Troopy's build date.
A few panties in a bunch in the 70 section over my build choices, but it's all gravy. Pissing people off is what I do.

Just made it through, lot of hate there. I totally don’t get it. I love seeing different projects even if that project is not my thing.
It’s one thing if someone posts “hey I am thinking about a 6BT swap...”. I will ask if they have experience with the 6BT in a Dodge? I worry that a lot of people looking at 6BTs don’t know what they are getting into. It’s a noisy, heavy motor and you have to pay attention to gearing. Had one in a Ram, wouldn’t want one in an 80.
But I absolutely love the Dirty Koala build, he did an amazing job!
Tony knows what he wants, has lots of experience and research to back it. Enjoy the build!

I’ve noticed for quite some time that mud in general is not nearly as polite as mud-200 Series. Case in point...Tony’s experience over there. It’s so unnecessary. Hate that crap and so glad the folks here are amazingly helpful/friendly/supportive/cool.

Different groups are hit or miss on their level of "prickness" as I call it. 80 is the worst followed by the 40... The 60 and 100 are still pretty tame compared to those. But you also have to remember they have 11-49 years of trial and error over the 200. I remember just 7 years ago how polite the 60 and 100 guys seemed and now you see the change happening there.
It will get to the 200 group as the prices come down on rigs and start getting rollover buyers from the other groups. You probably saw this with the 100 series when you were there, as it has done the same.

I think the biggest thing that will drive the politeness out of the 200 board is the frustration that comes along with newbies signing up and starting new thread after new thread of the same worn out old topics like “what size tire can I fit?” and “is the AHC any good?” and my favorite “I have a really rare use case for my 200 - I want to daily drive it and use it for exploring on the weekends what should I do?”. I went from posting all the time here to biting my tongue and just skipping over most of the topics because it’s so annoying to see the same crap posted every day. I actually think it’s unfortunate this board is so helpful to the newbies because it just encourages them to be lazy and not search or investigate on their own. Many of the more technical topics get ignored or buried quickly in favor of the same old topics. I’ve reduced my view and contribution time here by over half what it was a year ago (arguably a good thing especially if you ask my wife), and I think that’s going to go down even further. I also think apart from the obvious guys here who wheel frequently, the majority just want their 200 to look cool and won’t wheel. To each their own, but that annoys me and likely others and will probably lead to more snarkiness and less patience in the future.
