Would have thought yours would be lighter than that, but Cruisers are heavy. Mine, with the normal gear is ~5400lb.

5400 seems really light.

My black truck completely stock, with 31" tires, no hitch, no side steps, no spare tire, no spare tire carrier, no armor, no 3rd row, etc was

That's crazy.

Mine is relatively stock, simple, the "expo" catalog didn't explode all over it. The gAy R Bee POS on the front is ~80lb - the junk removed. IIRC, lost weight putting the 4x4Labs on the rear. No 3rd row, the driver side rear seat is out, a light rack with the 3 tool bags, recovery, tools, spares, slight gain or wash? Add the weight of the bigger tires and it's there?

Depending on the job for the day, sometimes carry significant weight. On days when it's loaded with rock or water, get a glimpse of what it's like for the ponderous guys, makes wheeling like work!

WTF? You calling me fat now?

This a fantastic thread and build.
I have to ask though...
With all that fab tube work, why no sliders? seems they would have some in handy a couple times over now.

Every "stage" of the build has been completed under a huge time crunch. I DO plan to build sliders I just always seem to be trying to get something more inmportant done at the last second.

I guess that's the way it goes when I try to spread my time between 4 vehicles, other hobbies, a house, a family, and work. It really would be easier if I got rid of some vehicles, but I like them all!

So I was lucky enough to snag this when it showed up on Craigslist several weeks ago. The wish list, some of which has been completed, is the following:

Completed:
- Window tint (no A/C so it's HOT!)
- Paint: Factory toyota cement color
- "update" the wheels and tires using extra set of 315's I had.

To do:
- Tweak the bed to make it longer. Add sides and a tailgate
- Interior sound deadening and maybe bring carpet back.
- Sliders
- Add back Air Conditioning
- Take it wheeling!

I’m glad you got it. I’ll look for the AC parts. Just need to keep reminding me!

Got started on some sound deadening this weekend scored a new set of Corbeau seats with Land Cruiser brackets already attached. Local craigslist gold.

Sweet! You were able to undo the damage I did to the factory mounting for the seats?

Haha. You left the factor holes surprisingly unscathed. I'll need to do a little work with a grinder but they were good enough to get them mounted and see how they felt.

Because the top part of the cab was welded on by me and the vehicle has already been in a roll I vote keep those kicker bars to support the hoop over your head. They aren’t too aesthetically offensive and they definitely add to the safety factor.

I definitely prefer the look without them.

Well, this might be happening...

See how we're all different I thought it looked more finished with them
