My thoughts exactly. If I didn't need to sell my 96 I would keep it as a parts bin for the 97.

FJ80 Front axle housing is discontinued; Rear axle housing is still available.
Beno,
And I was going too send you an email about this topic. I'm looking at buying a Cruiser and my concerns were finding stuff for the 80 series. Looks like my hunch of biting the bullet and spending the extra cash too buy a 100 series is the thing too do.
So question,
I was told a lot of this stuff ends up back in Japan after it is discontinued. So is it possible to get this stuff out of Japan still? Are part numbers different or the same. I mean I would be willing to eat high shipping cost to get the parts I want/need.
Are these part numbers still available?

Went for a burrito at KB's in Hailey yesterday, and saw 4 of them in the pkng lot (besides mine)...3 TLC's and an LX. As common here, as a VW in LA. Soon they'll be coming up for sale cheap, for parts.
it gets discontinued when it is all gone. I have not heard of stuff being returned to japan.

1.) Are the black pearl "full time 4wd" emblems (low left on lower gate) gone? I seem to recall the upper liftgate "Toyota LANDCRUISER" in black pearl was going, going, near gone.
2.) Is the supercharger kit still being produced in small batches, or has that boat sailed too?
At the moment there are 12 supercharger kits in deopt stock. Since the supercharger now costs more than some people are paying for complete trucks I find it difficult to believe the future is bright for them.
