Beno: can you list the different codes for availability of parts in the Toyota ordering system and what they mean?

Sure sir.

When folks like Dan/Sam/myself place orders, the parts are "classed" A-F in a primary position and 1-9 in a secondary position.

An "A1" part is a very fast moving part and Toyota has oodles of them.... Think drain plug gasket 90430-12031.

An "F3" classed part would be something like 2F .50 oversized pistons. They are very slow moving and are basically on their way out the door.

There are then instances where a part is a "D" class part (mid-level basically) goes discontinued. Say a 2F FJ60 alternator where it is not technically discontinued on the Toyota side but the supplier--Denso-- stopped making them so they go discontinued on the Toyota side.

Then there are different internal Toyota designations that indicate "non-import" etc.

Anyway, hope that helps.

Which tranny goes to which years?

What should the savvy 80 owner be investing in?

"investing" :rolleyes:

plus, do you really think beno or CDan left anything over for you ?

Have you seen the going rate for Pigstripping?

An investment in 1994 would net nearly a 1000% return. :flipoff2:

No, and.....

I've a sneaking suspicion that both will embark on a new, clandestine eBay endeavor, selling early F pistons/rings, 2F domed/rings, 2F(3F) heads, split case e brake retainers, manifolds, you name it....

Bet cash money they've both been stockpiling for years and with every "NLA" post, email, or phone reply to the desperate customer on the other end of the line, snickering deep down inside, patently awaiting the day they'll cash in their lottery ticket.

Mark my words!!!

For CDan (by CDan), 6M1 outside door handles are discontinued.

Beowulf would be happy.

CDan told me that ancient sage color 1B2 (40th Aniv) DS front outside door handles are discontinued. Thanks for doing this Onur.

Beno,

And I was going too send you an email about this topic. I'm looking at buying a Cruiser and my concerns were finding stuff for the 80 series. Looks like my hunch of biting the bullet and spending the extra cash too buy a 100 series is the thing too do.

I see. You want to do options... I suppose those could be traded...:hillbilly:

Exactly....playing right into CDan's and Beno's retirement plans.

Toyota understands the concept of supply and demand and my case in point.

There's one FJ55 specific power steering gearbox known to still exist in the system....at a Mud discounted price nearly that of the MSRP of the FJ55.

The 80 is legendary.....enough said.

my first reaction to "what would I want to stock now for perpetuity" was like this -> let's look at the 40/55 forum experience (and believe me, I have almost a full 40 in parts by now save a frame and body ):

rubber/weatherstripping - body panels (yeah, gone for the 80 until some aftermarket supplier steps up :meh:) - interior trim, door handles, door hinges, marker lights, wiper motors, dash switches . . .

so, basically anything interior or exterior that makes the truck the model that it is - I mean, engine, drivetrain, axles, all of that could be Chevy or somesuch, but the body/interior will be recognized for the 80/40/55 that it is . . .

all that said, and even though I like the 80 so much I got a second one on a whim  there IS going to be life after them :meh:

I am thinking an all electric wheeler could have some awesome torque . . . :hhmm:

Went for a burrito at KB's in Hailey yesterday, and saw 4 of them in the pkng lot (besides mine)...3 TLC's and an LX. As common here, as a VW in LA. Soon they'll be coming up for sale cheap, for parts.

Onur I know you said oak parts are disappearing but is there any chance that the drivers seat recline lever is still available? (Manual seat)
