According to Toyota.com/parts, the Transfercase is NLA now.

Correct. All US market transfer cases are now goners.

That said, at least the A343F is still available. This one was manufactured on 7/25/2017. So rather recently. I am waiting on a second one to arrive from Japan. I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be a new unit in a reman box since the new A343F's for the 80 series are indeed still available out of Japan vs. the AWTEC remanufactured unit from Michgan.

Sexy.

:)

I feel like the engine/drivetrain components in this thread are reason enough to start looking for engine swaps.
Although, it IS incredible what is still available.

80's have already been a good platform for a number of swaps. As the prices go down on the high mile 1FZ units, I think GM gas swaps and Cummins diesel swaps are going to be par for the course.

Then of course, Toyota diesel swaps, but those are not for the faint of heart due to overall cost for most folks who buy $2-7K 80 series trucks. Those aren't going to be the folks spending close to $20K on Toyota diesel swaps.

80 series trucks are now in the range of price-wise for folks who would have bought cheap 4Runners and pickups.

For $20-25k wouldn’t it make sense to just buy a factory diesel 80 Series already done?

Me, I’ll take a 70 Series instead! When the time comes...

All 1hz/1hdt stuff should still be available as those motors (at least the 1hz) are still in production. It's interesting to hunt for parts through Amayama as stuff I would not expect to find is available, and stuff I expect to get isn't. And wierdly enough, most of the odder finds are in the UAE warehouses not Japan or here in Oz.

But having said that, a bunch of diesel-specific stuff is only showing as available from Australia now.

Someone made a claim in a different forum site just recently that brand new (!) 1hdft/fte crate motors are available for about $14k (Aus pricing). Got no idea if that's out of Japan but presumably it is. Haven't tried to buy a brand new diesel motor or h150f gearbox recently. ;-)

Yes, this is correct. Almost all 1HZ and 1HD-T/FT/FTE parts are all still available. Mainly due to the fact that they were cross-utilized in marine applications as Yanmars.

1HZ is still in production and is now the longest running Toyota engine in production. 1990-today. Amazing. And no signs of discontinuation as long as Africa and the Middle East continue to exist.

That applies to 95-97 with the 343 transmission.

PWR button: changed the transmission shift points

2nd Start button: started the transmission in 2nd gear vs 1st gear. Very useful when in low range.

Can’t the same be obtained by manually shifting the transmission?
