I would put the tank in the sun to cook - just make sure no debris can enter the sender hole!
Anyway you can scope the tank to show us where the feed line and return line locate within the tank?
Stainless MIG wire will not rust.
Tank is in the sun baking right now! I plan on letting it bake the rest of today and tomorrow. Weds, Thurs and Fri it might rain but I'll bake it when I can (making sure not to let rain get in the tank!)
I don't have a borescope to look in the 'new' tank but I still have the old tank that I can cut open and take pics of if you want. I just need to get all the gas out first!
I appreciate it, but I wouldn't want you to ruin a useable tank if you think it can be put back into service!
I'm pretty sure this tank is done. Check the pics of it a few posts back. The bottom is 'poofed' out I think from pressure issues. I guess it could be used again - but probably not a good idea.
Are all the vent connections open on the old tank? Did you try blowing air through them? If some of them are clogged up that might explain the problems...
I blew through all the lines awhile back and they all were open IIRC. The check valve didn't flow very freely and the vent under the driver's floorboard (in the body mount) also didn't flow very freely. I'm thinking it was one of those problems - all of which have now been bypassed.
Vent from the bottom of the charcoal can?

Finished painting the rear of my frame, rear axle, springs, etc last night. Looks pretty good for a raddle can job.
Had to run an errand today into town so I picked up my gas tank. A radiator shop boiled and lined it for me. They were going to let me paint it but they did it and didn't charge any extra so I didn't complain. The owner of the shop likes for people to wait one week after their tank is lined to put gas in it. It was lined last Friday. I need to install it this Friday evening and fill her with gas so I can get the Pig running for my club's annual meeting on Saturday. That would be exactly one week of cure time for the liner. I'm one of those guys if I'm told one week I like to wait to just to be safe... any words of wisdom?
Nother question - I'm not going to have time to get my exhaust rerouted this weekend before I drive my Pig to my club's meeting (a must). Do I need a different type of wire for my MIG to weld up the exhaust where I had to hack it to drop the tank???

Rear frame, axle, springs, etc, wire wheeled, primed and painted.
If it were me, I'd buy a $10 screw-on turndown and put that on the exhaust where you have it cut off. Especially if you're going to fix the exhaust right, the turndown should direct the heat away from the tank, and would be an easy bandaid for the annual.
