Did you try just putting 12 volts to it directly? Its probably just a bad ground or corroded wire.

Not yet. First I gotta get the arms aligned right to get the dang regulator installed correctly. I think I have them right and now I just need to bolt everything back together (tomorrow).

I did look at the 'safety switch' on the driver's side of the tail gate. There is only about 1mm of movement in the switch 'plunger.' There is much more play in the tailgate when it is latched then 1mm. Does anyone know how much movement that 'plunger' should have?

Tailgate plastic gear looks OK.

Tailgate window motor looks OK.

Maybe something was just bound up?

I'm going to check connections but everything looked OK when I took the window regulator out.

Fun fun fun...
Howdy! On mine I found that the wiring block in the door had rotted out, and the wires were not all making a good connection. Kinda had to take it apart to figure it out. John

My wiring block looks OK...

I'm going to run 12v to the regulator and see if it will move.

Then I'll get out the meter and start fishing...

The video of you guys starting up the motor has totally inspired me to get on the ball with finishing up my motor. Great thread!

Thanks! I haven't done much of anything on my Pig over the past month. I've been busy with work stuff and am waiting on a carb rebuild and dizzy recurve from JimC. I can't wait to get to wheel it again! The summer is already here!

Carb is in process now. It was "repaired" in some interesting ways. Nothing that can't be put back right with some used parts and a hammer. Stuff will be on the way back soon.

LOL "repaired"??? I wonder if the same guys who worked 'wonders' on my head worked their magic on my carb too?

Thanks for fixing my junk! How does the dizzy look?

You da man!

:bounce::bounce2:

I've been ignoring my Piggie for a few months. I got a rebuilt 2F dropped in but after that needed a carb rebuild so that burnt me out a bit.

My wife insisted that I work on the Pig a bit today and she helped! I didn't do anything crazy but I did clean her up a bit and bled the clutch. I still have to push the clutch pedal down about an inch to get it to 'engage' so I'll have to look up the proper way to adjust it - I don't think its right as it sits.

The wife kept feeding me beers too as I worked...so eventually I decided to call it quits (wrenching...not drinking!)

Well GSMTR is coming up and I'm trying to be realistic. I don't know if the Piggie is going to make it. I don't have much left to do to get her ready but I'm really busy with non-Pig stuff. My b-day is weekend after next and the wife has given me the green light to work on the Piggie all weekend so hopefully I can get her ready to go...we will see.

I do need to buy another radio to install...wasn't there a thread around here somewhere about a radio that would fit in a Pig? Is that the only one that will fit or can I grab a cheap one from Wally-World?

Carb and Dizzy arrived today from JimC. Both have been installed but the Pig won't crank. Fuel is getting to the carb, starter is turning over...thought is I'm 180 out. For S and G's I simply turned the dizzy 180 but nuttin. I pulled the valve cover and am now reading up on TDC, timing etc.

Argh...

Won't crank = starter will not turn crankshaft.
Cranks but won't start= starter spins engine, but engine will not run.

If fuel is getting to the carb, try pulling a plug wire off and checking for spark.
Got a spark? Then the spark is probably not happening at the right time.

Thanks Jim and Yooper. I'm pretty sure (I think...) that my timing is way off - maybe 180 out. I did try to cheat and simply spin the dizzy 180 but it still didn't work. I pulled the valve cover to get to TDC but didn't get any further than that.

Starter will turn, gas is in the carb both in the bowl and squirts when I manually twist the throttle linkage.

I've got to do some other junk now so I can't finish getting her started - hopefully Sunday morning. I hope my Pastor doesn't strike me down...

Howdy! If it is just dizzy timing, then you should get some serious misfires when you are cranking it over. Maybe even some backfires, so keep your body parts away from the top of the carb. Sounds to me like the dizzy/coil do not have any/correct power to them. If no luck with the TDC redo, then look for the juice to be missing. John

So it looks like my Pig might be able to make GSMTR after all.

On the "To-Do List"

1) Oil change
2) Install front floor mat
3) Install stereo
4) Maybe fashion a basic shelf in the back for underneath storage
5) Re-torque everything
6) Set timing
7) Pack spares
8) Mount roof rack
9) Drill a few holes in rear bumper for new Grade 8 bolts

ETA - if I can find time (doubt it) I'll install the radiator splash guard Yooper sent me. I also need at some point to install my stock skidplate but I'll have to get the exhaust rerouted a bit first.

Looks like that is about it!

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! :bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

I have to add that Michael and Brian at Atlanta Custom Creations have been a huge help with getting my Pig ready. My motor would probably still be sitting in pieces if they hadn't helped out!
