Steve, are you looking for hinges?, I have a couple extras; fronts or rears?; by the way have you heard anything from David Dearborn?, about a dozen phone calls and emails last 4 weeks and no answer.....he did have several good hinges on those parts pigs he had they looked a lot better than mine

Lou - I know I need both driver's hinges and I think front passenger and rear driver but let me check. I'm going to be in ATL in a couple weekends. I know David is around but busy. I haven't had much luck contacting him but Heather has. Is there something you want for me to pick up or ask him?

I have one hinge, new in the plastic that might be available. I am going to spend some time today and tomorrow hacking up the piggy. Steve, when you come down, we can see what I've got too.

Steve, have a couple of front hinges and a rear one but they are a bit rusty and have been beat.......noticed that David had some real nice ones on both the parts pigs; the doors on the early one were real nice also.........you are welcome to mine..........check and see what you are needing; between Heather and myself we should be able to get you going will send you a PM on my need list; might be able to coordinate going up to Atlanta and pick some more parts from David's pigs ........just hate to drive 4 hours without knowing if DD will be there!

Only got an hour or so in last night. It was too dang hot to do much more. I finished cleaning up my driver's door and prepped for POR. I applied POR to anywhere there was rusted or bare metal and along seams that were starting to show a little rust staining but no visible rust. It was hard to get POR into the inside of the door in some places but I did the best I could.

I've been experimenting with painting over POR. On one of my front fenders I let the POR all but dry (read VERY tacky) and then sprayed ODG directly on top and this seems to have worked well so far. I've heard that you can also wait until the POR is again VERY tacky and then apply a light dusting of primer, let dry, and then a full coat of primer. I tried this last night and it seemed to work well until I checked back an hour after applying the primer. In places where the POR was not dry enough (such as seams where I applied a good bit of POR) the POR apparently gave of some sort of gases while drying which made the primer bubble up. I'll have to sand these areas but its not a big deal. I hope to do that and start the ODG/white paint today. I'll post pics soon.

STILL have a problem with something draining my battery intermittently. I went out about an hour ago to crank up the Pig and pull it into the garage (to give the neighbors a break - two houses are up for sale next door) and I got nuttin'. My negative battery cable was loose so I had to use a pair of pliers to 'pinch' down the terminal clamp and then it fit tight...tried to crank and nuttin'. The battery was DEAD. I checked and nothing was left on - head lights, fog lights, CB, or the overhead light.

When I hooked up jumper cables I could get the engine to try but not crank. I had to charge the battery for a little less than an hour before a jump off a running vehicle would work. I hate electrical problems....

And Yoop - I always like the stock green. The first Pig I saw (a friend owned it) that made me always want a Cruiser was green.

Nah - rear window works like a champ and is at times scary fast. My current guess is there is a slow 'trickle' (jokes to come I'm sure) somewhere that is draining the battery. This weekend I am going to replace the battery cables and cable to the starter and install a cut-off switch (or whatever you call it). I figure this won't cost much and at least the switch will help stop the problem until I found the real source. ih8electricalgremlins

Oh - ETA - the problem is intermittent - I can go for weeks without a problem. Then one evening it will be fine and then the next morning it won't start. I can turn the lights on but they are weak. I'll check and nothing was left on. When I try to start I don't even hear a 'click.' I have to usually charge the battery a bit before I can jump it.

Heye steve do you have a 12v probe. Basically it's a ice pick with a light bulb inside and a long wire with an alligator clip on it.

Next time the cruiser dies do this. Disconnect the positive from the battery put pick end on the battery and the alligator on the cable. Does it light up? If so you have a drain.

Then connect this back and go to the fuse block. Take all the fuses out. Pick to one side of the fuse holder and alligator to the other. Which one lights up? Doesn't have to be full bright might even just be a a red filiment in the bulb.

This should narrow down your drain to a specific circuit.

Troubleshoot it. One step at a time.

My best guess is that it might have something to do with all the tail lights that are disconnected temporarily for body work.

I had to do some tail light work when I had it and I ripped out some trailer wiring that was causing problems...

I had some of that fancy wiring hang down and catch a trail hazard, and it unplugged the passenger side tail lights. It took me an afternoon with my wiring tools to figure it out.

I cleaned up the wiring some more last month. There were a ton of leads going nowhere. I also had a fellow club member spend several hours getting the tag lights working. First they didn't have any power running to them and second he couldn't find a good power source to the rear - but either way they work well now.

I bet they're Alcan but I honestly don't recall. They're soft and came off the Lobster. Lance would know.

They aren't Alcans. They were custom made, from a semi-local place. Ask Lance.

I agree, cut and turn is a good idea, but not absolutely necessary - the front driveshaft angles are within reason as it is because that SOA lift is pretty mild.
