Pic 1) these are the holes I was talking about...to POR, POR then weld over new metal...its gonna be a pain to cut everything out and replace with all new metal...I'm leaning towards slathering POR and letting it be
Pic 2) DIY spindle for rear tire mount from IPOR
Pic 3) Custom fab'd body mount from IPOR

I need some of those body mounts!

No pics - camera battery was dead - but I got the whole outer part of the inner passenger fender and wheel well covered in two coats of POR15.....oooooooooooo, shiney! I wanted to overcoat it w/ a little Rustoleum to protect it from any UV but it was raining and I didn't want to spraypaint in the garage. I'll spray on a thin coat this evening - if it sticks it sticks, if it doesn't it doesn't...no big deal. Driver's side is up for work this evening.

Steve, POR has a primer that sticks to POR and to paint. I am going to use it over the POR on my rusty porker. Just a thought. I won't need mine for a while, so if you want me to bring it this weekend, I can and we can just trade or something.

By the way, I can't wait to see your porcine masterpiece in person!

Hmmm....I have a truck load of POR stuff that I bought and haven't gotten into yet, so if you are strapped for time and need more, I can bring that stuff and you can just buy me replacments since I am not in a hurry as of yet.

I have a bunch of odds and ends as far as parts go. I am leaving for Kentucky today and will be back tomorrow. I'll go through my stash when I get back and see what I've got that I can part with.

I gotta get the lights off the fenders I have, so I'll probably bring along the nut breaker to do that when we see if we're swapping.

I'll put a little something down now and do better tomorrow w/ pics. I had 10 people over from Upstate Cruisers yesterday https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=156424 and we got a ton o work done. We rebuilt my steering center arm with toyota parts, installed all new shoes and wheel cylinders in the back w/ again Toyota parts, welded in a body mount fabed up by IPOR, got my tag lights working which was a feat in and of itself, cleaned up wiring to my fog lights which were degraded, cleaned up some contacts between my battery and starter which hopefully were what was keeping my Piggie from starting half of the time, started some nice body work on my rear quarters, and began installing a rear swing-out tire carrier which became an epic adventure - see the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pej88q7D3GA. Most of the pics are posted up at the first link.

Here are a few pics that aren't posted on the first link above.

Pic 3) IPOR body mount (Thanks Lance!). It took a little fabbing but ended up working well.

It was a great day Steve! The pig is looking fantastic! I am so impressed with your self taught fab ability! And I have to say, your wife is a SAINT. Big props to the Upstate folks for a great day of wrenching (and sanding and grinding and welding...). Let's see those piggy pics soon!

P.S. thanks so much for the help and the sheet metal for my fender patches!

ahahahahaha wrong size hole saw!!!

Were there!

I love it.

The pig looks good man. It's always nice to have friends over to help wrench.

Dang hole saw....

It will be an easy fix - I just need to use a arc welder a club member has down the road. I don't think my 110 mig is up to the job!

And yes - its always nice to have 10 friends over to help wrench!

SWEET! That's what that truck is all about.

I'm curious. Can you tell how much the center arm rebuild helped? That steering linkage is pretty much all new now.

COnsidering I rebuilt it. I will say it was actually in really good shape Minus the seal on the bottom being shot.

I think he will be happy with it though. New grease and all new parts are nice.

That was kind of my impression when I inspected it quickly, which is why I wasn't in a hurry to do that rebuild myself, with lots of other stuff on my plate at the time.

I'll let you know after I get her off road. That was when she slopped around.

I'm concerned that it might be more of a geometry problem, although I don't have a specific idea of what. It would be sweet if that's all it took to fix it though.

I probably should clarify what I was trying to say. My Piggie steers straight when you point her straight - that's not a problem. When off road and bounding around you can hold the steering wheel straight and she pretty much if not totally steers straight but what you feel is something bounding around...like its slopping side to side. I know that's probably a bad way to explain it but I'm running low on fuel - time to go eat lunch.
