On the extensions.
Kinda bummed that Trailtaylor is not gonna handle those extensions, as they are the ones I got from him.

Text me and you and will figure this out. Don’t wanna sell you something that’s not right.

This is a pretty basic item and the work needed to repair in order to make it work is also pretty simple. I’m fixing them on my end. I just had an option to spend more and get factory ones and just be moved past a hurdle that was unexpected. I feel worse for @xtiaan2000 than anything because as genuine as he has been through text and here he was made out to appear to be trying to double dip where that part of the story hasn’t actually lined up with the facts.

Moving forward!

Too bad you got stuck with those. Trail Tailor parts aren’t as good as advertised. My 60 series c channel “kit” was pure bs. Had to re drill every hole but 4 out of 15. Mounting hardware was a bag of 7/16 bolts and nuts. One size fits all, and not even metric. Never again, save your money and make them yourself.

Been involved in still acquiring items for upgrades but things move slow. @ToyotaMatt has been helpful as can be with his super fast turn around though. Thanks again Matt!
The trail Taylor brackets were fixed but at last minute I assumed the bumper side needed to be cut and spliced so I just laid down to SOR and grabbed a set of factory ones. Once in hand it turned out the bumper on a 55 is not as tall as a 40. My bumper that was on the truck looked very close to a 40. I ordered a new 40 bumper and it wasn’t a match. All issues of not having a genuine article in front of you to compare with. So for now it is mounted until I get a good 55 front bumper.

The trashed fuel system when I originally purchased the truck made me look for a fuel pump. @ToyotaMatt sold me an NOS 73’ specific (straight through fitting) unit and I put the old original to the side. Once a NOS kit was sourced from @TeamJB i cleaned up the housing and rebuilt the pump and it will go on the shelf for a spare or for another truck?

Both NOS steering box and drag link purchased from two different members here. Filled with proper gear oil and slid into place today. Feels REALLY nice!!

I do have a used box with some small amount of slop. If someone needs one please PM me an offer and let’s see if we can get it in your hands.

Very nice work. I've been taking notes for my own soon-to-begin 55 project, so thanks for the level of detail presented here.

However: 18 pages and nobody mentioned the VW split-window busses yet? VW guy here as well, had a '66 standard bus and a '66 21-window (as well as a '65 Ghia) back in the 90s. On to ALH diesel Golfs now. Sold the busses way too cheap... to get into Land Cruisers! Ah well?

Tangent over. Back on track!

This crowd I don’t take as VW type enthusiasts. I’ve had many buses over the years but currently there is a 58’ sunroof kombi and a 54’ RHD single cab along with a 59’ euro beetle sitting here. I’m pretty much done buying VW’s. It was time to move back into other interests. Hence the 55.
