The Mule / 73’ with a past?

Built elsewhere assembled sorta then packaged in a crate and shipped to another part of the world and assembled in a different plant.

I came across some information that may or may not be the case

As I heard it???

in South America, to import an entire complete vehicle is cost prohibitive due the import tax. The way I heard it is that they are allowed to bring in a chassis with cab and engine as a parts delivery. Then there are auto shops all over that finish the assemble to meet your needs I.e., delivery trucks, farm trucks, transport trucks, people movers.

I have spent time in numerous SA countries and notice many one off versions of Land Cruisers. Mostly with a 40 series cabs. (45’s)

Wanted to add the 8274 and needed a set of frame extenders. @TRAIL TAILOR i guess use to make these and appears a detail of plate thickness was missed on the drawing. Anyone ever installed these or know of issues on a first batch? Ever hear anything @xtiaan2000 ? Seems weird to me? Posted in the tech section with zero responses. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I thought they bolted together back to back, not butted end to end?

I only got one set. Never got a replacement.
Kept them in the box til I was going to need them. Now I went with a different frame so pass them along.

:/ ….?

You have them oriented correct, they are supposed to slide over the frame rails. Here’s my old set from when I installed, these were made by Awl_TEQ and patterned off @cruiser_guy stock extensions.

I contacted him through PM and didn’t get a response when I set out looking for them and was told he made them. I’ll contact the fella through a direct phone call tomorrow. Thanks @tucker74
what bumper is that? Mine is not the most ideal and I’ll need a mount.

Here’s the money shot, yours will look better once you get this sorted (4plus bumper on mine):

@Blastservices its the 4plus 8274 bumper, you will need to call Dave and order w/o holes pre-drilled. The FJ40 holes won’t line up with this extension, I got mine bare metal and drilled holes before powder coating. You can see there are several configurations, he also sells the HD winch plate if your set on keeping a stock bumper:

@ToyotaMatt that looks like the stock ‘82-‘83 FJ40 chrome bumper but I can’t be sure. Mr T did offer one 😉

Awesome and thanks for the info @tucker74 !

Matt, let’s discuss a heat cable. The end wrap you make is the issue with my fresh/recirc cable. I purchased one from @Pighead and the efforts of the seller don’t go unappreciated but it’s installed on the blower and is super tight reaching the lever back. 38” is what a 73’ truck uses for that cable. Double wraps on each end. We can discuss in PM. @ToyotaMatt

i specialize in the " porky pig tail detail " .........

oem toyota was only 2 turns , i have adapted a 3 turns approach , weather that will work on the FJ55 HVAC slider controls panel we can determine at that time
