Some good news... replaced some squirrel'd up wires and boom!!!!

Next comes the fuel tank... seems like the fuel pump isn't working after taking the back cover off and applying 12V to the leads... can't hear anything. Connectivity between the leads is somewhat there...100 Ohms... don't know if that's right. I'm just guessing it's seized up.

Are you sure you were putting power to the pump and not the level sender? This is what the fuel pump connector looks like, I don't think you can access it without dropping the tank a few inches.
Yellow connector, red/green (+) and white/black (-) from the vehicle, blue/black (+) and white/black (-) going into the tank.

ya... funny enough the fuel pump failed on my other FJ62 so I dropped that tank to replace the fuel pump... and the stupid lead on the fuel sender just broke off, so I have to replace that.

oh the dreaded fuel lines in an old truck.

Never buy these flare nut wrenches from craftsman... pretty quickly started slipping on fuel line 14mm. had to use my normal wrenches which eventually worked fine.

tank out...

After spraying it with deep creep. was not able to get the screws out of the sender, had to chop them off. Any one know if this ring with the notch can come out or do I have to extact the screws the old s***ty way?

broken bolt count: 8

Well... got the dreaded HOA letter today... Can't be drinking beer while working on my cruiser in my underwear in the cul de sac.

... time to switch to some white russians

the ring is part of the tank assembly. so yes you would need to extract those screws.

I'm pretty sure nipples are my specialty... I got this.... gonna try to weld it????? JB?

Repairing the threads after drilling out the broken bolts... all of them broke. Let's hope this works

Both the high pressure and return fuel lines had holes in them

soldered in some lines... used copper for the return and then found out Aluminum was recommended for high pressure. wasn't sure I used the right solder to get aluminum to stick to steel so I ended up going on top with JD Weld.

Someone on here needs to get us a nice alternative for this fuel pump holder ;) @cruisermatt

Fuel Sender I bought on the cheap was too long... of course. Went ahead and did a snake move to shorten it

That’s exactly what ours looked like after 15 years in a field.

Some light reading material.

I love getting ideas from these long threads, as well as a list of future problems to be found :)

They are coming soon!

I'm sure the solder job will hold up pretty well, but @tmxmotorsports does sell an adapter to use a Tank's Inc style fuel pump holder. I used it on my LS swap and it worked perfectly.
