Never once thought about a generator, might be worthwhile just in case. I will let you know if we ever plan to head up that way, and if you head down south let me know, we are in Cassopolis.
Sounds like a plan. Check pawn shops and Craigslist now for the best deals.

Mocked up the rear seat today. It is amazing how quickly the real estate disappears back there!

just read your thread ... nice progress and nice approach to fixing it up i.e. enjoy it as you fix it ...

I still have some work to do on it, the rear sits too high still and will until I put a rear tire carrier and hang a spare off it. Dave Gore is checking on some shorter shackle side plates for me, I "think" I can get away with going to a 3.5" or so shackle as I am currently at 4 5/8". I know the springs are longer than stock and fear that they may bottom out but I need try something. I also have some silly long bump stops I can use as a bandaid if that is the case. I want to update the shocks to Bilsteins but that is a luxury item. I contemplated going back to the standard 4" rear springs but the ride was so terrible it's just not worth it. I think I will retain the front springs as is as they seem acceptable. Even if I could find the matching two Mojave front springs they wouldn't work without a shackle reversal from what I understand.

Ummmm I have a problem. I went to work on mounting the Corbeau this morning and discovered it was soaked but it hasn't rained since I put it back there! I could see water seeping out of the hard top header piece, so I pulled the door catch screws and it was a waterfall. That piece must have been completely full of water, it is still coming out as I type this. What do I need to do to keep this from happening?

@kbahus, I'm from that area (Dowagiac class of 1970) and you are sparse territory. Maybe Kalamazoo or South Bend might be productive. When I bought my 81 4X4 Pickup, there was a joke going around that they were stoning Toyotas in Detroit. I hope Craigslist works out.

Looking good! Keep up the work, they take time.........................

Drained the header of water and filled it with half a can of Fluid Film so hopefully that saves it from rusting away internally. I also Fluid Filmed the entire way around the inside of the raingutter. The truck smells like a boys locker room now, not very pleasant!

Tried on the car cover I have but it fits very poorly, better than nothing. I am looking into a temporary shelter from Shelterlogic, seems like it might be the best way to go.

Also went for a short drive to burn some gas.

After sitting outside now for a few years the moisture has really taken its toll on the rig. I knew it was getting worse but after looking at some of my old pictures I can't believe how bad it has become. The cover has at least kept it somewhat dry inside. I was hoping to bring it back to life and drive it to work through the summer, but it needs a full restore at this point and a dry garage. What a bummer, Michigan is not the place for Toyotas especially if you don't have a garage.

That is unfortunate ... I am in the rust boat with ya :)

Slowly eating away ... not fun... but I do drive mine year round DD

Alil cleanup each year ... rust converter ... paint ... fluid film or spray grease and it's back for another year

I am soon in need for new front floors ... door sills are totally gone

You need to move back out west!

At least it still runs and drives.

Good luck drying it out and catching up with the rust.

I was just back in CO for a family emergency and can't believe what Fort Collins and the Front Range has turned into. It is not the same place I grew up. With home prices and a lack of jobs I don't think we will moving back any time soon as we would go broke.

Maybe I need to take JohnnyC's approach and drive it instead of worry about it. I do have an extra gallon of Fluid Film in storage and could give it a full bath.

Bummer about the rust man, I'm struggling with rain in Seattle, but it's not so rusty which is good. I try to start the ford and cruiser at least every 2 weeks and it seems to help. Or at least I feel better that they start. :)

No garage yet, hopefully next summer we'll start construction.

We just picked up a disco 2 for the wife and I need to give it the waxoyl (or fluid film) treatment... it's a Utah truck so has some chassis rust. I'm looking forward to the mess
