I think the one thing I could have as an advantage is that all of this was just removed in June so, since it is all so fresh im expecting basically factory torque without the impedance of years of bonding and other materials providing additional security against removal

So, for those who have installed these spring sets….where would you say the greatest amount of muscle is required? I lack much of what I had and while I have done my 40 springs but it was 1976…
Working smart is always the solution. Using leverage and well placed blocks of wood. The largest true ‘lift’ is probably moving the springs from the front porch to under the rig, and carting off the old springs. Everything else can be aided by having two floor jacks, jack stands, and 2x4 and 4x4 wood scraps. Using leverage to get the fixed spring end lined up and installed, floor jack to lift dynamic end up and install the shackle. Floor jacks to lower the axle housing back down.

For me, hardest part is often the tightness of the polyurethane spring bushings. Using clamps to pull / push spring pins through, with hammer persuasion as needed. I went back to oem rubber bushings this last round. Rubber fit like a glove on my TT parabolics and installed so easily.
 
@BullHab I had decided not to update my springs under a recent series of big upgrades. Questioning the wisdom of that decision since I am driving it so much more. I will be looking forward to your review among the many I have read so far. I am not a rock crawler but I live on a long dirt road and enjoy riding a few fire trails around here. Some of the potholes are not even a bounce but a hit and you feel it. I might describe it like a high end turntable that has locking screws used for shipping but…you remove them when your playing records and the spring action is restored…My truck feels like they never removed the shipping screws . I dont recall any of my other Fj40’s riding like this

My dirt road is jarring enough that the reality of a smoother bounce is starting to gain popularity in my head again. Just getting the mail each day can be an adventure …imagine that?
I agree completely. I put Saginaw steering and a shackle reversal kit on "LUCY " this Sping. What a great refinement!! Hopefully this kit will smooth out my stock springs. Later i plan on a five speed and fuel injection.
 
I can speak to the fuel injection….spectacular!!… I wanted to go 5 speed but a discussion from @wngrog convinced me to get 2 front 3.70 geared differentials and make that swap. My FJ40 has a completely new attraction. I am probably 20% down in 4th for engine rpm. Using an iPhone gps speedometer app it was running 83mph with a fair amount to go. I am so sure it would make 90… not what it was made to do but it does demonstrate the changes with gearing and good fuel input.

THIS is what dictates the purchase of the Terrain Tamer spring kit… I am old enough that the hard bounces of a dirt trail fatigue me a bit and the theory is, these spring help to improve that… I held off a long long time..truly believing this would not really be much of a change but after a year, I really do hear otherwise…we’ll see soon. There on their way. Probably be here mid week

Al- with the terrain tamer springs, the next set of tires can be 33” for even better hwy rpms.
 
Funny but I find my self in 3rd …lugging around some corners…big difference with the gears
