As the title suggests, I'm trying to figure out which way to go here. In the next few months I expect to be talking to the guys at Slee and getting either a set of their sliders, or a set of the slider steps. I really like the clean look of the naked sides (with F/R flaps) but am concerned about rocker damage as the trail running season opens up again this spring. With protection in mind, I really want to do something for my rockers while they're intact.

My truck is my DD and preferred family vehicle. My wife complains that it's too hard to get in and out of the truck ever since I hauled the bent, rusty original 'boards to the landfill. I currently have the "stock height replacement" OME springs and 285s, and will probably add Slee's 1" spacers to finish out the ride height, rather than move to taller springs. (Still debating that.)

With that back story, is there consensus? For those running regular sliders, do they provide any sense of a "step" for the vertically challenged? (Wife is 5'2" on a good day. In shoes.) For those running slider steps, any regrets?

Thoughts, votes, and input appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Yes, my regular White Knuckle Off Road Sliders does provide a step but the step sliders obviously hang lower.

If you got small children, I'd suggest the step sliders. It also doesn't look like you're doing anything serious with OME stock lift plus 285s. The step sliders will not likely hinder your future off road adventures.

I kinda wish I got step sliders. My boxer got his leg caught once getting out. Lucky for him his leg freed as he tumbled out. Now both dogs are not allowed to get in or out on their own.

Slider-steps. Because wife will be happier.

My wife didn't even notice that I had swapped the running boards for slider-steps until my son mentioned it to her.

Mine were very affordable at ~$800. But I picked mine up directly, and you'll likely be paying shipping unless you're coming to BC Canada.

Yikes! I never thought about that, will have to be careful from now on as our dogs are always jumping in & out.
Happy wife happy life :)

I had the same question. Going with step sliders next week

I have the old Slee step sliders. Its the one where you can remove the outer part of the step and run with just the slider. I have never removed the step part of the slider and have see no reason to do so. My wife is 4'10" and she used the step all the time. I some times use it 5'11".

One thing she always asks for is some noslip tape on the step. Every winter she says its slippery and I need to fix it and I always reply, its too cold to put noslip on it and it will have to wait till it warms up. By that time I have forgot about it and she has forgot to remind me to do so.

I went with IPOR's step sliders..welded on. You'll like the step slider

Luke are those one off sliders, or does IPOR offer them regularly?

Thanks

Slider Step

Talk to Jason at Cruisin off-road. He did the below for me and its great. No kids or dogs breaking legs with the mesh he put in there and he can probably make or design whatever it is you are looking for. Phew is awesome to work with. If it's a DD, I say slider step.

My metal techs provide enough of a step for me. But if you wife is complaining keep her happy. In the real world you will not notice too much difference on the trail. And yes children and dogs can get their feet stuck in no step type sliders.

They do offer them but I had them make them a about 1 inch wider.. They make them in house and come painted I added the grip tape

Thanks, I like how they sit..

How about a hybrid? Just painted these suckers today and will be installing them tomorrow. They're the OPOR sliders from Metal Tech. They're available with no front step, 1/2 step (like these), or full front step.

I really like the look of those. IIRC, those look similar to the BIOR slider steps.

I'm likely going with Slee because they're local for me (Golden, CO). I like the BIOR/OPOR style but can't justify spending on shipping when Slee is 20 minutes down the hill. If I can find alternatives in the Front Range that have a more attractive option, I'd be interested.

Nothing against Slee at all; they're awesome. I may actually talk to them about a hybrid if they're game.

I have the Bimp It Off-Road step slider which looks like the factory step. This works well and is great when tending to the RTT. I had him weld on some 1/2" tabs under the sliders front and rear (near the ends) so I could use a Hi-Lift jack if needed which out it sliding off. Happy with a full step.

I have Hanna sliders on mine. They have sort of a step rail. I put non skid tape on them at the doors.
