Not what OP is asking, but I replaced my OEM (cloth) seat cushions for $108 each from Amayama. Made a pretty significant difference and it was super easy.
Thank you. I am open for suggestions.
My is a 97 with 40th interior with seat covers and loose driver seat frame from all the wear.

I bought 1 from @Delta VS with the planted seat bracket. Thinking the wife rarely sits in the car and doesn't need an upgraded seat. After a trip and she drove for a little , I have two seats now.

You may use this strategy too. Also doubles your chances at getting Scheelman swag, like a towel or hat.

I don’t find 80 seats particularly comfortable, more sort of ok. Same for the GX470, by the way, which has me wondering whether Toyota can find it in their heart to build good seats for someone who’s 6’1 with long legs. Now the Mastercraft suspension seat in my K5 is a different story. Multiple Moab trips including highway from Omaha, and later from Phoenix, then 5 days of trails before going back - very comfortable, crawling or cruising; I think I could sleep in that one.

My wife wants to retain the factory looks in the 80, and I’ve redone the leather, so they look good, as well. But if it were just me, I wouldn’t have spent money and effort on leather for the stock seats, but installed suspension seats. I realize that a deep bucket seat is not for everyone; for me, it’s the most comfortable seat of anything in our ‘fleet’.

Im the original owner, do short trips (2 hour max) as this is daily driver. I just want to be comfortable. The seat does not have to put me in a coma with comfort. A little more leg room, and the ability to slide seat forward when my wife drives. High seat bolsters would seem to wear out quick having ro climb over them daily.

I'm 6'3 and have no issues with GX470 seats, I like them quite a bit. I've considered putting some in my 80 just for the arm rest but my HDJ81 has manual cloth seats and I'd prefer to keep it that way. I don't find them that uncomfortable either other than nowhere for my arm. I definitely need either an armrest or bigger center console. I also prefer the stock look so bolting/welding on a factory looking armrest would be best. The driver bottom cushion is definitely in need of replacement though.

Which MasterCraft seats? Always looking at seat options for my 40, it has RSX seats in it right now but a comfortable suspension seat would be better.

I've had a lot of Toyotas and the only ones with good seats for a tall-ish person were my Tundra seats. That's why I swapped in the Audi seats. Probably not the easiest fit possible, but they're reasonably comfy and have a TON of adjustment. The originals wore me out quicker than riding my KTM Duke. I don't mind taking a break after an hour when I'm riding, or wheeling, but if I'm on a trip, I just want to get where I'm going.

A Mastercraft Pro with a removable bottom cushion; that can be customized, and mine is 2” lower to fit me on the driver's side, and a Mastercraft Sportsman on the passenger side. I liked that Sportsman in my wife’s FJ40, but she didn’t. She got a Bride seat for the driver’s side, and it fits her perfectly.
The GX470 seats are ok, and I like the seat heater on skiing trips, either to Flagstaff, or to Utah. But they could be better - more shape, more bolsters.
The Pro suspension bucket on my K5 with the lower cushion is deep, and certainly not for everyone. My nephew, when he was a wee one, thought it was a child’s seat for grown-ups… 🙂

Bought mine on eBay. 100% worth it.

what bracket did you use for the Audi seats? Took I take another brand factory manual seat with the planted 80 bracket and it my be close to plug and play ?

Oem from another vehicle is a good option. Although some look pretty different than stock which can look funny if your using the stock rear seat. Thats also a consideration with a aftermarket seat as well. I used lexus es350 seats with heating and cooling. Making brackets took a weekend. I had to modify the rear heater duct. The wiring to get all the functions working was very time consuming and difficult for me. Some oem seats have very complex wiring. So thats another consideration especially if going diy. Dont want to have a set of seats that you end up cant figure out. I probably have 60 hours of labor installing them completely. If a shop is charging 200hr for labor, that adds up fast.
