Medusa:
Im not sure on weight yet, but I cant see it being too heavy..
Frame rails are only 3/16", body is all alluminum, 6.0L HO Gen III Vortec has Alloy heads and composite intake...
Ive always wanted an FJ45 expedition style truck with desert design...I am not building it to go into tight east coast trails...more like out west, street driveable, quick, coilovered, Navi, shower, welder, etc. I even have a M101 trailer that i just got from the guys at Iron Pig Offroad to build a Expedition Trailer to match....
I have been planning this project for almost 2 years
The goal is to fit 40's...so the trial fit begins. We will be cutting, chopping, building new panels, whatever it takes to get the look/stance that I want....like a Chip Foose or Troy Trepanier ride.
We do alot of high end muscle car, street rod stuff also so I have been around that all my life.
I have been so busy doing other peoples stuff that I needed to just force myself to get it going. There is no timeframe I am under, and I will be doing extensive editorial on it in Crawl magazine as it goes. I am only posting this on Mud for you guys, no other board.
Thanks for sharing the build with us!, looks like those Purdy Aluminum Fenders are going to need to go By by.. Build Quality looks second to none, Very impressive, makes my build look like Dog Poo..
Thanks for all the props guys!! I appreciate it coming from all you because I have seen you guys build some bitchin rigs here on Mud
Woody: Not yet...soon
Isotel: The fenders are staying You will see as we progress on the build.
Marcfj-45: I actually was checking out your thread awhile ago..too bad I am unable to read it, im sure it has some usefull info for me...the project looks cool. www.aqualu.com has been great and the quality of their fab is top notch..we will be mocking it all up for fit then disassemlbing it. For basically being completely hand built, I am very impressed with it.
beaufort-fj60: The rim is an Axxis 17", I am using these for mockup because i have a set laying around in my other building. They are a good rim.
Which one? I'm looking at the Synchrowave 200 and was wondering if it would be enough for occasional frame type work on 3/16"-1/4". Mostly it would be 20gauge to 1/8" but I want to be able to do a bit thicker reasonably well. I've gotten some somewhat vague answers on this - just curious what you think. Sorry for the hijack...
