Finished grinding the drivers side knuckle ball to fit larger fj60 birf. Installed oil seal kit, packed trunnion bearings, and torqued steering arm/lower bearing cap to 71 ft lbs.

My preload was a little low on each side so I removed the skinny shims and both sides ended up at approx. 12lbs on the fish scale.

Typically you measure the preload without the felts bolted to the knuckle as that can distort your reading. I usually go on the tight side because things tend to loosen a little as they break in.

Thanks for the heads up. I measured without the felts installed and they were at 4lbs and 5 lbs. Removal of the .20 shims got me to about 12. with the felts they are about 15lbs.

Hubs are installed.

Torque the inner lock nut to 43 ft lbs and spin the hub left and right a few times. Loosen the nut and tourque to 5lbs and check preload. Mine ended up at 12lbs per side. Install lock tab and then torque outer lock nut to 58 to 72 ft. lbs. Bend one tab in and one tab out on the lock tabs.

The lockouts are cleaned up with new cone washers. Waiting on reman calipers from Beno and 8mm split washers to do final torque on wheels.

Next steps are to finish lockouts, brakelines and steering/TRE resto/install.

555 TREs are on the way from @cruiseroutfit , thanks for the quick turnaround Kurt. I dropped the relay rods and drag link off to be sandblasted as they won't fit in my cabinet. My dad is blasting the small parts. In prep for the reassembly, @Coolerman came through with his write up; Steering Linkage Rebuilding

Sorry for the boring posts, this thread is helping organize my thoughts to stay on task.
