The parking brake is installed. I need to check parts diagram again as it looks like a retaining clip is missing on the washer behind upper tension springs. PO was evident in the disassemble.

The upper left bolt that fastens the backing plate to the speedo housing on the transfer case is shorter than the rest.

Tonight I did the "oil galley plug fix" I referenced @Eporter s thread and followed it closely. My First Galley Plug Fix

It was pretty straight forward. I removed the head bolt above the galley plug and stuffed a rag into the hole to prevent any debris from falling into the head bolt hole. I used a reverse drill bit to drill a pilot in the aluminum plug hoping that it would pop out. It didn't so I threaded an eye bolt and pried it out with a screwdriver.

Next, I carefully drilled and tapped just deep enough to fit both 5/16"-18 set screws and secured them with red lock tite.

Deer season crept up on me. Opening weekend, I gave a yote a haircut. He caught me off guard and got lucky.

A polar opposite to my build showed up in my dad's garage.

Next steps on my build are to install parking brake drum, install rear drive shaft, install tub for wiring and body panel mock up and front axle reseal and knuckles.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

Slow progress as I have been chasing whitetails and busy with home improvements.

My rear driveline is close to 100% complete. Hindsight is 20/20. For those that are putting a 4 speed into the early frames, an unobtrusive option for parking hub clearance would be to simply cut and rotate the support towards the rear and weld.

Very clean work!! Tranny and T-Case look great. That young'en looks like a future bow hunter if I've ever seen one! Already sporting the right T-shirt.

As for the Odocoileus virginianus, that's why it's called "hunting". I may slip out next week if the weather changes (gets cooler).

Thanks.

All 3 of my kids have a great appreciation for the outdoors. My oldest (8) is about ready for a crossbow next season. She has been practicing with her recurve all summer and is putting a pretty decent group together.

I havnt had a mature buck in range all season. We have a bonus 2 days of shotgun starting tomorrow and then Muzzleloader in January so hopefully my luck changes. I have been accused of being picky.

You grow em' big in OHIO...

Weather here has been uncooperative to say the least. 70 degrees in December!!?? Good luck with your hunt!

Weather has been a challenge. Rut was pretty hit or miss this year.

They do get big here. The challenge is convincing people to let the 2 and 3 yr olds walk.

This past summer I saw 4, all of them on Mayfield Road between Chesterland and Mayfield Hts.

Looking great! Happy to see another FJ40 in NE Ohio! We may have enough now for a get together

You are welcome to joins us any time here in WA we have plenty for a get together.
