Tonight I got a few minutes to work on the rear axle.

New oem brake shoes, raybestos hardware kit and turned drums.

Just did that job...............lookin good bro!!!!

Did you notice the ramps (angles) in the adjuster slots?

PS: one of the shoes is backwards. Note how one end of the shoe is skinny and one end is built up fatter. The fat end goes into the adjuster slot. The adjuster slot should be oriented so the taller end of ramp is toward outside.

All the shoes are now correctly oriented.
Jim, are you saying to orient the deep adjustment slot towards the access hole in the backing plate?

Yes, shoes are correct now.
Sorry, my explanation of the ramps is lacking. The last pic above shows the ramp being backwards. Pry up on the shoes, then turn adjuster 180* so the tall side of the ramp is outside, the shallow end of ramp to inside. The idea is the slope of the ramp should encourage the shoe to move away from the drum after brake application.

I see it now. The top of the adjustment ramp between the ears where the shoes ride has a slight ramp to it. tall side of each goes to 3 and 9 o'clock of backing plate respectively.

thank you for the heads up.

Looks like a sharp build so far, I don't know how I have looked over this thread. Not too far away either!

I saved the cutouts from the weather tech mats that I installed in my daily driver. In preparation for final install of the radiator support, I borrowed my wife's craft cutter and made the support cushions to replace the canvas that was originally there.

Good thinking- I like to have an on-hand supply of 1/4" rubber sheet for stuff like that.
