You can see all the grime from where it was (at the bottom of the slot) for the last who knows how long. I moved it to top of slot and WOULDN’T YOU KNOW IT, but the thing goes all the way up without hesitation now.

Now, maybe all the other parts and pieces helped once this was adjusted, but I’ll have to leave that for someone who hasn’t changed everything out to test.
Nice work documenting and presenting everything on here. I may try a built thread but it would just ramble on and be a bunch of nonsense.... It would mostly be because I forget everything I do and have no idea what was done.
If and when I get time I want to try this adjustment out and get back. As of now the fronts are untouched and painfully dragging, especially in the cold, for years now. I hope this isn't in the FSM as I need to get MUCH better at referencing it...

Engine swap has been moved up to top of list. Was on the freeway headed to visit a vendor last weak when I felt an ever-so-slight decrease in power, just enough to feel in the pit of my stomach. When I pull off at the next exit I heard the gut-wrenching “knock, knock, this ain’t no joke”. Luckily friend was able to come grab me with trailer.

So now acquiring NV4500 is at top of list (as of last night, secured), as is getting 4bt parts back from machine shop. Have parts from Adventure Vehicles NW already here and more on the way for adapting, etc.

Getting a handful of Fluidampr harmonic dampers to turn into three pulse versions so it works with the Toyota tach pickup.

Doubt I’ll be able to get it done before Cruise Moab unfortunately.
Booooo. As long as it's ready by September I won't be too upset.

Are you adapting the HF2A to the NV4500? using adventure NW? rockbug still has some kits left so if you wanted to go the beefier route, there's always that idea :)
Using the AVNW kit to adapt NV4500 to HF2A. The place that does the re-splining of shafts is very close to me so I got ahold of them and they referred me to AVNW. He was able to get me parts quickly. Not familiar with rock bug?

Rockbug is an australian company that also specializes in 6bt 80/105/100 series swaps. He has everything from mounts to exhaust bits. His kit changes the input shaft in the HF2a instead of milling down the NV4500 shaft. short story version of why he went that route = capable of more power, aus vehicle engineering laws, and nv4500 parts are harder to come by. lol. Rockbug.com.au

Mine is on the plane headed over now so hopefully soon my thread will have some good photos of how it all fits together. :)

Gotcha. Looks like good stuff, but I prefer sourcing stuff over here whenever possible anyway. Ease of service and ability to get someone on the phone, etc., and I'm not going for huge power or anything. I look forward to seeing your build come together!

I definitely understand that side of it - but you're probably aware of the issue that made me start looking elsewhere for an adapter, lol.

I definitely don't know what issue made you start looking elsewhere. I've heard there were oil seal issues, but that has been taken care of. Don't know anything beyond that.

Lol I didn't know there were oil seal issues too.

Anyhow - I'm curious to see the differences in the 4bt swap. is engine mount spacing different? I recall hearing someone say from the rear of the mount to the rear of the engine is the came distance or something cool like that? that would leave so much room up front of the engine for activities.

Not sure what issues you are referring too we have not had any issues with our HF2A adapter kits or shafts. You must be confusing my company with someone else. These are the products we sell: HF2A Land Cruiser Transfercase to NV4500 Transmission Adapter Kit - Adventure Vehicles NW - https://adventurevehiclesnw.com/shop/land-cruiser/80-series/drivetrain-80-series/hf2a-land-cruiser-transfercase-to-nv4500-transmission-adapter-kit/

Oh - you are absolutely right. I thought we were talking about someone else lol.

I meant specifically the clutch pedal, bracket and other parts. Maybe I didn’t look hard enough but I didn’t see them on their website.
oh gotcha, got all that from japan4x4, was super quick.

Bummer to hear about the severity. In the remote chance I could be of help wrenching, running, or anything let me know!
awesome, thanks for the offer, might be taking you up on that.

Awesome. Could you post or PM me all the part numbers to assemble and mount the 80 series clutch pedal? Only the bracket part # is visible in the photo. Thanks
