Road side repair (well it's in my driveway )

I welded the plastic fan (soldering iron ) maybe it will hold for a bit lol

And pop rivit the shroud from hitting until I get it out to make a better repair

Still not fun when raining

Just picked up a new coil and that was my allotted $$ for the month for the cruiser ... But... Good thing is I saw this in order to fit it ... So there is a plus!

Sorry for your troubles Johnny. SOR shows a used shroud for $200 (OUCH!). New fan is still available. SOR price is $115, that's OEM. Aftermarket one for $38. At least parts are available. Had issue with my FJ45's water pump years ago. It has a early 2F engine and I updated to shorter water pump and fan clutch. But I had everything laying around except the pump.

looks like my buddy who lives in VT (45 min drive) Walter Moses ... aka Wally ... aka Tyke... aka Poor Wally from the famed "Poor Wally's Land Cruiser Emporium" does have an oem 6 blade fan in his used parts

I have not been to his place in some time.... so.... it works out just fine most likely

I will also be picking up a few other little bits ... he is a great cruiserhead !

Went to Wally (tyke)'s place ... Just pulling down the drive way brings back so many fond memories... The barns ... Livestock... Sounds... He has a great place

Saw a great bud there as well ... Junior @fourlow&go

So good to chat and hang... Picked up the 6 blade fan from Wally ... Took a few shots for his yard... Soooo much to poke thru

Q: I can't recall if I need to remove the upper rad hose to remove the fan shroud? ... Stock 74' stuff

I guess I'll find out soon enough

Did you swap out your fst doors for steel doors when you put the new top on?

I put on the hard doors so I can replace the canvas on the FST doors with the new Sunbrella ... i have a few different plans for the canvas... And will most likely not be able to get to it until the start of summer...

Good news ... I just fixed the wife's AC ... Wiggled the relay ... Works great now lol

She will be happy ... Therefor I will be happy

When I was restoring a '51 Chevy half ton I'd pick up my wife's grandfather and head over to the wrecking yards of South Albuquerque. Spend an hour or two crawling over the selection hunting for needed treasures. Then we'd stop at the local tavern where everyone knew him, have a couple beers while he entertained us all with stories from the fifties. Great memories.

Had about 1/2 hr before kids bus pulled up... Sooooo... Out with the old fan and in with the new to me fan

Had a few moments a few days ago and made new straps for the hand crank as well

How do you use the hand crank with the winch mount above the bumper?

There is a space between the bumper and winch inwhich the crank goes through in line with the crank

This however is impeded with a 1/4" thick plate at the bottom of the winch plate lol

This is one of those things I have been meaning to get to for the last 17 years? Lol

I had purposely got this winch and designed the front to also accommodate the hand crank ... But... Alas it's not complete yet lol

The hand crank on the front is my constant reminder to eventually get my lazy butt in gear and get that done... Hopefully before retirement as we do have a plasma cutter at work

I wouldn't start down the "gonna git to it" rabbit hole in this thread your already at 29 pages on a one week resto... That needs it's own thread like "what did you do to your land cruiser this week". Love that new top, great job on it- I still need to fab the rear and mid bows (they were gone when I found the truck in a junkyard) and rebuild my lower fst doors that came with the 69 before I start the fabric progress. One day...

Curious why you haven't mounted the hand crank inside? Is there not enough room on the driver's side wheel well? As time goes by the hand crank is becoming one of those sought after parts better kept out of sight. Especially if you park it outside at night.

I do really like your top with the zip open half door in the back. When you go into production are they only going to be available to pre 75s with barns door and spare on the right?
