Thanks!

A lot of folks do historic tags if the vehicle is old enough and if you register it as historic, there is no inspection. But! you can’t daily drive it and there are limitations to how much you can drive it and where; You can’t drive it to work, school, etc... MD Inspections are a one time thing before registering and emissions are every 2yrs or so unless it is 25yrs or older. I think?

The po had it registered in DC but he didn’t get it inspected or need emissions done. I don’t know if it was registered as an antique?
I paid 90$ for inspection. It’s all electronic now so when you pass, it goes directly to the MVA.

Things that failed were:
Front leaf spring bushings
All 4 Rotors
Front L shock

I have 30 days to fix these items and have temporary tags until it passes.

Or you find a shop that'll give you the green light for a little extra cash. Kept my old 80 on the road for 6yrs that way before finally realizing there's no benefit in putting so much money into just making it safe

As you guys know, I’m selling my 80. I’ve downgraded my comforts to a 1990 HZJ73.
It was in the DC area the past 3 yrs so you may have seen it around. I’m getting used to RHD. It’s not practical but doable for a daily driver and I’ve gotten more comfortable driving it (no fast food). It has a 1HZ engine with a 4spd auto; slow but fast enough to keep up. The seller moved to CT so I drove a rental car out there one way, used my 20% TLCA discount at a Red Roof Inn (lol), and drove it back. I need to fix a few things to pass MD inspection. I plan to daily drive it and wheel it.

That is fantastic. Good for you Austin--nice purchase.

I have historic (technically "Hot Rod") tags on mine, and no cop in Maryland is going to care where or how often I drive it.

Land Cruiser brakes are going to have to wait. Can't find the pads and the shop didn't open until noon, not enough time to get everything done and make it to the DMV.

BMW is getting picked up and dropped off at a shop this afternoon, there's a BMW shop around the corner from me.

I did this yesterday. Love it or hate, there was no arguing with the deal I got on 5 tires & wheels from an ONSC'er. 285/75/18. We'll see how they like the AHC!

***Yes, that's a sledgehammer in the front seat. I was prepared in case I needed to beat off some sticky rims.

Walking right into this one JV, SMH.

Changed the rear shocks and swapped out the right rear rotor/pads. There is some metallic noise coming from the rear brake when turning or changing lanes. I’ll take off a shim or two and adjust the e brake and hopefully that resolves it.

@Stumpalama you weren’t lying when you said the old shocks were bad!

Make sure those pads aren't rubbing on the hub. or it could be your e-brake pads as well. If the noise isn't ominous, i might wait a 50-100 miles to see if they "self clearance".
Also, make sure you bed the pads and rotors properly.

Check your wheel bearings as well. If it happens turning or changing lanes it could be the hub moving due to loose bearings.
We know it ain't the passenger (driver) side.

Also, my understanding is that with Street Rod tags they can’t give you a repair order! Historic tags they can.

1 down 4 more to go! Don’t think I have the energy to get these done before CMCC.

I also hade to fix a bad ground and a loose wheel bearing on my trailer.

Dood! Take the rest to a garage.
Or, save them for Fall Crawl.

It’s not bad installing them. Its like sex It’s all in the technique and lots of lube.
I’m not in a hurry to get them done.
I got 2 done now.

Nice and cheap now with their sale....

Don't use all of the KY on your tires, save some for the Love Shack.

I still have half a gallon! The Hans free dispenser is the only way to go!

Coconut oil does the trick for me, and just beat on it more if it tries to struggle and gives you lip.

But yeah, I used to mount all my tires myself, but the used tire shops will mount and balance for $15 each. In this heat...easily worth it.
