Hi all, I am an outsider, infiltrating your group with a specific request… there is a truck in the DC area I am very interested in.. but I am in FL. Wondering if there is a shop or anyone in this group that could go look at it for me and check it out. Willing to pay 100 bucks or so, whatever you think is fair.
DM me if interested.
This truck is from a dealer... which was not my goal originally, but this one has pretty low miles and two owners.
And if you see it and decide you want it, that is the risk I am willing to take!
It is in Chantilly, VA... here is the link -- 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser 4dr 4WD (Natl) in Chantilly, VA | Washington, DC Toyota Land Cruiser | Priority Nissan Chantilly - https://www.prioritynissanchantilly.com/used-Chantilly-2002-Toyota-Land+Cruiser-4dr+4WD+Natl-JTEHT05J122019056

If I lived in the deep south, I wouldn't shop for a vehicle with multiple accidents and a twenty plus year history in Northern VA. Rust is a real thing here.

Ask for pics of the undercarriage. Ask for pics of the engine bay. Look for a Timing Belt service sticker. Register on the Toyota owners site and review dealer service records (if any). Ask them for a picture of the upper hatch handle.

The driver's seat bottom has been replaced. Clamp on the upper radiator hose isn't original. I don't see much else in the pics.

$0.02

Yeah I hear ya. I did get a lot more pics from the guy and the rust didn’t look too bad. But maybe it was cheaply coated to hide rust. Def skeptical, but I’ve been searching for one in this color and didn’t want to leave a stone unturned. Good note about the upper hatch handle… is that an indicator of a deeper rust problem? Did not know you could look at detailed service records through Toyota, will check that out. Thanks!!

That’s a lot of money for a 2000 with those miles, and that overall condition. Based on those photos I’d say it’s more a $7k truck.

I may be able to swing by in the next few days if you still need it, no guarantees tho.

agree, its quite high priced for its age and miles, with accidents. If you are REALLY into it, DM me, I will check it out in person.

I had a good friend that works for Toyota look at this and he walked away.
